toward Russia. These fly 9X the speed of sound and render defense weapons useless. Couple of things come to mind. First Trump is not doing a very good job as a "Russia first" agent or that is and always was complete BS.

Trump has tightened the screws economically and strategically on them and the wild arse and insane Mueller investigation has made Putin and Russia a daily punching bag for ridicule. Which has caused them to rationalize hatred of the USA and greatly increased their paranoia.

Bottom line is Trump tried to reach out to the Russians since they are the only country in the world capable of blowing us all away. And the insane Dems, driven by irrational hatred of Trump have reacted in a criminally politically crazed fashion and made the world far, far more dangerous. Every US president since Cuba crisis has made better relations with Russia a priority. But it took Trump pulling the upset to criminalize the effort to save the human race from an unspeakable and possible early end. Who knows what the future holds. But so far what we have found is a government held hostage by politicized and Nazi like one party control fanatics. And a national news media plus an entrenched democrat machine that has no regard for our representative form of government nor the will of the people. And just as sad I doubt any president from here on will try to make the peace with Russia. JMO.

You mean the technology they potentially obtained during the Skolkovo project pushed by the Clintons and their foundation donors??

At the rate of fuel consumption required to carry a multiple warhead payload, how far can a hypersonic missile travel before it starts to cough and sputter? It would seem to me that these are for limited range use, not intercontinental. Anyone have knowledge of this subject?

Yeah, I want to see the complete test data before I am even going to remotely believe they have perfected launching a missile into space and having it re-enter and basically freefall to target...

I would be more concerned about their sub-based nuclear arsenal...

These hypersonic weapons that Putin has......

If they are so fast, and he already has them; they could be pointed at Antarctica and still be undetectable, indefensible blah blah blah.

I am not military or intellectually advanced in foreign policy, but this whole “pointing/aiming weapons at your adversary” thing is probably bullshite.

Also, we are America, we either have them, know how to defend them or , or see no need to have them.

We will simply aim more at them.

And the mutually assured destruction game of chicken continues.

It’s a good thing Russia doesn’t give a shite about Louisiana. I just hope the radiation doesn’t mess up the spring fishing.

Y’all know that whole “billions of dollars missing from defense spending” that everybody likes to bitch about? It’s going to stuff like hypersonic defense/offense.

We’re the only country that doesn’t broadcast our capabilities to the world in that regard.

They have successfully tested it for flight and strike capabilities a few times. These are definitely more tactical in nature since they are hard to detect except from space. Additionally, the current missile defense systems are inept to this technology.

We were actually at the forefront of the technology, but allegedly chose not to weaponize it. Which is bullshite.

It is a game changing weapon, and our own defense people are saying it will take to at least the middle of the next decade to have a proper-functioning defense system against it.

Russia does NOT want to frick with America as much as America doesn't want to frick with Russia. The two countries have a mutual respect/hatred for each other because they both know the other would frick them up within 5 minutes.

Did you think they were ever NOT pointed at the US?

All icbms for the last 60 years are hypersonic and can't be hit by missile defense unless you get them in the launch phase.

Many years ago putin came out, and basically said that russia does not, and can not develop a defense system like the US. Due to the overwhelming cost of such a program. So they have focused all of their weapon power as offensive. Eventually America's defense system will be hyper sonic, and have the ability to span the globe, and at that point will be an offensive weapon.

At that point there is no ability to even attack america or any of its allies. As any attack will be blown up before it even leaves Russia's air space. So their only option is to have weapons that move faster than america's defense weapon systems. With this information it tells me that if he was to launch an attack it would be almost impossible for them to defend against the counter attack. Now putin does own slightly more nuclear weapons than the US. I am not sure what the maximum payload of their warheads are. The US has a maximum of 1.2 megatons, but they can attach up to 10 warheada on a single rocket. Giving you a single 10.2 megaton thermonuclear explosion. About 75% of the castle bravo test (you can watch the video of this explosion and it is absolutely terrifying)

I have come the conclusion that he will never fire a weapon as they ensueing attack would be fire and fury to the extent of total annihilation. The problem is if he was to attempt an attack it would be an attack that would be total annihilation as well. The attack and response would probably happen so quickly that our atmosphere would be filled with radiation in minutes. I do not see how war between russia and the us would ever happen. Because the gravity of the situation is that neither country would exist in a few hours after it began.
