Au contraire, mon frere. I was in a Sunday school class at Northwest Houston Church back in 1982 when the topic of performing a gay wedding ceremony was seriously discussed in that meeting! The general consensus was the SBC was autonomous and if the congregation agreed to let it happen they could.

This is true, and the national and state conventions and local association can also decide to disassociate with them. It doesn't affect their autonomy, just their affiliation.
