So what happens if the next president decides to declare a national emergency on guns?

I don’t like this. Opens the doors to too many possibilities. We don’t live in a dictatorship, if the president can’t get it through Congress then tough shite it just doesn’t get done. I have no problem with a wall, I just have a problem with opening Pandora’s box with this national emergency crap. It can and will be used to get more than just a wall.

Were you late in getting the talking points?

2A explicitly prevents it. There is no law that explicitly prevents a border wall.

And what would they do about a national gun emergency?
Posted on 2/14/19 at 5:56 pm to DavidTheGnome
Well, our guns have the protection of the 2nd amendment. Border walls don't have that protection.

The gun thing makes no sense because of the constitution and shite. Also the guns and shite.
But I don’t like it either.

Just saw that his happened, sorry if I haven’t kept up all day. So what’s the answer to the real problem that this will be used by future presidents to get whatever hey want? Saying "melt"?

I pray a liberal tries that.

They can come try to take them. Law enforcement won't do it. They are being attacked too by this. I think New Jersey passed recently that off duty cops can't carry and it's not resonating well within the LEO community.

To do what about guns? No emergency declaration is going to upend an individual civil right. Should be patently obvious but you aren't exactly the brightest bulb.

What part of “SHALL NOT BE INFRINGED” do you not understand?

You think this is the first time a national emergency has been used?

The first duty of the POTUS is to protect the American citizens. He is doing this

Anyone who denies that the border situation is a national emergency needs their head examined. The cost of illegal immigration is equivalent to hurricane Katrina - every single year. Narco terrorism, human trafficking, sexual abuse, and a half million apprehended annually. We have a shadow population living among us the size of Belgium. To call it a national emergency would be an understatement.

good concern troll.
there is a huge difference in securing our borders and some crazy dem declaring guns banned.

When they say we aren’t infringing on your right to bear arms, you can still have guns. Just not certain kinds. And this is an emergency so I’m circumventing congress to get it. Y’all will be thinking crap how could his happen.
The president circumventing congress to get his way. Muh small government amirite?

Not only does he think that, he apparently thinks democrats require "precedent" to do whatever they want.
What a hoot.
If they wanted to do something in the future they would use the fact that Trump merely considered it as "precedent".
shite, they tried to turn possible random thoughts he had about what he might do into "obstruction".
People have the memory of a fricking gnat.
