What are the popular bicycles amongst kids/early teens?

When I was younger it was Redline, Mongoose, Dyno, GT...... those are the ones I remember. Not that long ago I saw Mongoose at Walmart so obviously they’re not cool amymore. Are any of the others still in existence? Which ones are cool today among the kids?

Kids don't ride bikes like they used to. I remember racing around my block trying to beat time. Just got my son (8) a new bike for Christmas - Schwinn Thrasher.

Giant, Trek, Specialized are probably the most popular retail brands for that age

My nephews have some janky wal mart bikes. They ride the shite out of them.
I was too cool for bikes. I made a chariot looking thing on a skate board and my beagle would pull me up and down the street. When the skateboard broke we started using roller blades.

Yep. If I wasn't on my bike doing 'time trials', I was either riding around with friends finding mischief, or in the driveway shooting hoops. I miss that life.

I got my 11 year old a Cannondale for Christmas. It sits in the garage while he plays Madden 19 and bullshits with his friends on Xbox.

As mentioned, Trek, Specialized, Giant. Nice bikes keep their value. Sold my boys 24"s in the past year.
The 12 yo. rides my somewhat beat up Specialized 26" full suspension. Around Xmas, pounced on a used Jamis Dakar (full suspension 26") for the 14 yo that was in new shape for $400 on Craigslist, ironically owned by a Bama fan (who didn't give a shite about sports). They'll ride with me at least weekly at the bike park. Otherwise, as others have said, they could give a shite about them (or the 4 wheeler sitting outside).

forget popular and buy expensive so you don't have to work on it all the time. cheap bikes have cheap brake parts that suck big time.

My FIL owns a bike shop in Houma. Sales to kids have tanked the past few years. It’s quite sad actually. He is semi-retired so he doesn’t need the money, but he said the worst part is they miss kids coming in and hanging out talking about bikes and such.

Kids don't even go outside anymore. I can remember being outside all day and night. Playing some sports, riding bikes, pellet gun wars, just being an active kid. I can remember building my own bike from Seabreeze on st Bernard highway. Red line. I can also remember building my skateboard, Johnny Kopp, vision I believe

Ah yes Seabeeeze. I almost forgot about that place. Just some storage sheds now, but still called Seabreeze.
