It would be cheaper/safer to just build a new one. Word is they don’t have the money to do it though.

That can be taken care of really easily. They have money to do whatever they want to do on that campus for athletics. They'll just have to fight F.King and his SJW cronies to get it done because muh academics.

They're going to build the new PMAC where the track and field currently is and once completed turn the existing PMAC into a quad like open space leading up to the north entrance of Death Valley.

Sauces? Where will T/F be headed?

Why is this a factor to consider?

it's in LSU's best interest to not kill or stress its expensive, rare, live mascot

Supposedly they would build a new T/F out on Gourrier. Once moved, they would build the new PMAC on the current T/F. In this scenario, all sports would play out their seasons on campus.

And this is ridiculous. Just issue bonds.

That would be a best case scenario. But that could be an expensive contract to put all 3 teams there for several seasons. What’s most likely is the BBall teams go to one place, where men’s would make up the cost for themselves, but women’s would bleed money, and the gymnastics team ends up in the old field house where the indoor track is.

I think women’s basketball is gonna be one of the main factors to stall this whole thing. As it is they lose tons of money. But you have to put them in the same arena as men’s basketball (or one of equal value) bc of Title 9. If you have to pay someone else to have all their games for a season or multiple seasons, it’s gonna make that program cost even more money
I don’t think going thru all this trouble and especially all of what would surely be incredible finacial cost is worth it at this point. I’d say let’s make do with what we have because the PMAC is far from horrible. At least for the next couple years and see where we are then and see what the need and demand will be.

I’m sure with enough planning they could use the river center. I’d say a season in the river center/cow palace would be worth a new arena.

I’d be willing to watch LSU at the River Center for a year if it meant a new arena where the PMAC stands.

I'd be all over this, as I could walk to the games.

Level the place and put in a multi story garage. Build a new arena out on Nicholson.

Basically upgrade it to modern day arenas. Make it 4 sided on the inside instead of a bowl. Make everything new. Put the press in the nosebleeds where they belong. Upgrade the home locker room. Probably look at a 2 tier balcony style seating layout instead of having the nosebleeds so far back from the game

Edit: possibly suites as well. Not sure how much coaches are interested in that. I think that’s something that ADs push for

It would probably be twice expensive to to this than to tear the PMAC down and start over

Library will eventually be torn down and moved to a new location with campus master plan - I think that area will end up as green space

Drop athletics then and see who gives a shite about LSU. Tell the university to stop taking money from the athletic department because it's the only fricking department that actually turns a profit at the school. No one is paying TV contracts to watch the engineering majors solve equations.

The best option would be to move the Track stadium to across from the Vet School and build a new PMAC in the current location of the Track Stadium. The current PMAC could be used until the new one is complete. This will take a lot of money and probably wont happen, but it would be best for the campus in the long run. The Track stadium shouldn't be located in Prime real estate. Its not used enough and its honestly pretty ugly.

That would get rid of the RV lot. Which probably gets moved over to the Hay Lot. Which gets rid of thousands of parking spots.

I think the first upgrades he was promised are for the offices, weight rooms, basic facilities. If memory serves the PMAC rennovations/new construction is another year or two down the road.

quote:

"Obviously redoing the assembly center or doing something totally different. For right now, that's going to be a couple years down the road," Wade said to the crowd. "We've got some more immediate needs that we're trying to fix in terms of the weight room, the offices and some different spaces like that that we're trying to fix that will help our staff, help our players and we've had discussions about all that."

He also spoke about the importance of taking time to make sure it gets done the right way.

quote:

"When you do this, you've got one chance so you've got to do it right. You don't want to rush or do it in a hurry or do anything halfway," Wade said. "I was a part of a renovation at Clemson where we did it once and they didn't do it right and they had to turn around and redo it again in 10 years. You want to make sure that you do it right. We certainly need to upgrade dramatically in some areas."
