I was there sitting at mid-court about 10 rows up opposite the benches. It was loud, and it was glorious!

I was there. Probably the greatest basketball game I've ever seen in person...or TV.

I was in 4th grade and living in eastern Kentucky. We were the only LSU family anywhere to be found, but we would not bow to those hill-billies. Dad brought me in to watch the game on TV to teach me more about being a Tiger. The next day I made damned sure to wear my best Purple and Gold shirt to school so I could rub it in the face of all my friends. The school librarian wrapped me up with newsprint to hide my shirt the next day. She was a good sport, and that day we made a pact. Every time LSU beat Kentucky at any sport she would bring me a gallon of my favorite ice cream, and every time that UK beat LSU I would reciprocate. I miss rivalries and friendships like those!
