Should be fun reading the threads asking why PM pulled marceaux or walker after going 5 good innings in february

I agree. With LSU's pitching depth and this kid apparently having stuff good enough to become the ace of the staff I hope they limit him a bit so he doesn't hit the freshman wall come postseason

I have to imagine Marceaux's workload as a prep was pretty heavy given that he was on the showcase circuit and even made it to Team USA. That kid is gonna be one of the all time Tiger greats before he leaves, I just hope his arm hasn't been too taxed coming into college.

Also with Hill coming along the way he has, he can take some weekend starts from Marceaux and Walker to help manage their innings.

Re the idea of Henry taking some weekend starts to take the workload off of the primary starters to save their arms for the final run, I wonder if the coaches take this into consideration. 14 starts in a row in the regular season, not counting post season is tough.

It’s a delicate idea. Some argue that taking a starter out of his role for a week or two will throw off his rthym.
In tournament play it’s a definite advantage when you can plug the #4 and #5 anywhere and not really lose any competitive advantage.

Marceaux is as good as I’ve seen from an LSU Fr. pitcher. His ceiling is what MLB scouts get paid to recognize and his progression over ~18mo prior to last years draft was obvious. I’m wondering if CPM’s comments about the “permanent” Fri night starter was his way of eliminating future pressure from the LSU fan base.

I think it's more likely that Mainieri's comments were more of a reiteration of something he told Hess last year.

He didn’t pitch his freshman year in high school. And his dad sat in the stands with a radar gun and let the coach know when he was wearing down. He was always dominant tho, several no hitters. If maneri dont frick him up he may go down as one of the greatest. Watched him against Hahnville with 18k in 8 innings.

I’m only advocating watching his pitch count during starts. In recent years starters seemingly had to go 7-8 innings to secure wins. Let the relievers work early in season.
Will be interesting to see how PM handles it.
