Ronnie’s. There’s one in Hammond and one in BR off Florida near the old Broadmoor shopping center.

If you go just past br to Port Allen, you can get some chicken cracklins from Bergeron’s

Ronnie’s. They have good boudin balls as well, and meat pies.

Second this. Blue Oak's Sichuan cracklin are the best in NOLA. Toups are right behind them and are traditional.

Its just outside your radius but the cracklins at Kartchner's Grocery in Krotz Springs are the best.

Just stopped here for the first time a few weeks ago. I thought the cracklin was very good but not the best I've had. The boudin balls on the other hand were out of this world. Best ones I've ever had.

Now you're talking my language.

Does Jerry Lee's make cracklin, by any chance?

So this brings up a question as to what everyone’s preferred cracklin “style” is. I much prefer the long thin strips. I think they fry up better and that fat crisps up nicer. Some of what is being advocated here are the square thick ones. I find that the center of those stay soft and fatty. I won’t buy them when I see a place has them.

They are always completely random when I get them. Inevitably there are always some real stinkers in the bag. My wife and I cherry pick out of the little bag and each go for something a bit different. There’s always some that don’t get eaten. Sometimes there are stones (hard-arse over fried meat) in the bag, sometimes there’re fat blobs just waiting for next hand.

Dude at Don Carter's in BR walks around during league play (I used to go on Wednesday nights, not sure if he does it every night) and sells some delish cracklin out of a red wagon. That's the non-regulated good stuff right there.

Love their food but the cracklins are shite. They cook them way to long.
