This shite is unreal. CNN has reached a new level of depraved journalism.
The article literally discusses how racist white men of the past have done some good things for black people historically so America should consider that when dealing with this frickhead govenor of Virginia
The left is biased and will accept blackface/kkk outfits as long as its a Democrat. Disgusting fricking hypocrits

And with eighteen words CNN rehabilitated David Duke.

They're talking about some Southern politicians who were racist in the 1930's and then found Amazing Grace.
This was 1984...20 years after the Civil Rights Act, not fricking Jim Crow South.
If you're dressing up in blackface in 1984...and think it's funny...this isn't "oh, I was a victim of the times." This is those South Carolina Frat boys on the bus with Borat wishing that they could own slaves.

This writer sites Lyndon Johnson using the n-word constantly as a great champion for blacks. Has it occurred to this moron that maybe the sales pitch was bullshite and that he did more damage in the name of doing good than almost any other president in history?
Usually it's not a difficult concept to grasp that if someone who hates you tries to sell you on how they're going to help you should probably be skeptical
But these fricking idiots walked right into his plantation with open arms

I would say it’s an interesting, nuanced piece if it were written after someone dredged up a decades old image of anyone on the right. Anyone. Even the one inch right of center right. But it wasn’t. It was written after a white democrat who brutalized his gubernatorial challenger by framing him as a racist again and again was caught in a racially compromising photo. So no. No, I will not take this transparent attempt at rationalization seriously. Nor will I legitimize its author by acting as if he’s a deep, complex thinker and writer. He’s a disingenuous opportunist.

That’s a freaking terrible article. Is it possible that people with racist beliefs can execute their offices in an unbiased manner? Sure, but there are better leaders for the people of Virginia in this day and age. The black face/KKK picture was bad enough, but the lack of integrity in dealing with it in the aftermath is a huge red flag as well. If you took a stupid picture, own it and move on.
I’ve known many leaders that made the proper, legal decision despite having personal beliefs that found those decisions distasteful. It is possible. That said, the people have a right to believe in the integrity of their leadership.

Well, according to that logic, Trump has plenty of potential

And you have a weird problem with reading comprehension. A black writer was just saying that he cares more about the dealings of a current politician today than 30 years ago. What he was saying was a hypothetical based on what he believed the black community at large would think. I don't think he's right or anyting but it's certainly not a big deal...

So you think this CNN writer would have the same nuanced take on the VA governors picture if he was a Republican?
Thats the whole point im making. Whether you think some guy that racist 30 years ago has matured and changed his views-definitely possible and probable.
But theres no way in hell he spins it this way if the governor has an R behind his name

So are there any holdouts who consider themselves Centrists who don't see the batshit madness the Left and the Media have descended into?

Then why were they so against sessions? Was it because his possible racism didn't exist?

This is so weird.
The legions of women who gave testimony under oath about Brett Kavanaugh’s treatment of women and his advancement of them in their careers was completely irrelevant because he made fart jokes 35 years ago. I wonder what this writer cared about then.
While I appreciate his acknowledgement that the standard he set is impossible for any human to follow, and leaves no room for redemption or context- this same guy has insisted we follow it chapter and verse to ruin people based on isolated Tweets, yearbook photos and smirks.
It’s quite rich, coming from CNN especially.

They are all over the board, depending on the issue, yet they will tell you you your face that they’re consistent

No they haven’t - they are capable of doing way worse than this. They are a propaganda machine with a moral high ground. Why should anyone be surprised. Just because they are a multimillion dollar MSM outlet doesn’t mean they are not capable of tabloid and blog behavior.
I can only watch about 2 minutes at a time before I feel nauseous.

That’s the most CNN article ever.
