I went to a "COVID19 center" today to be tested as I am symptomatic and work in healthcare and do not want to expose patients to the virus if I have it.

We were told by front desk, clinic manager, and providers that:

Apparently these "COVID19 centers" will only test you if you are a medical provider with a confirmed exposure to someone that has tested positive to COVID19, are immunocompromised, pregnant, or have cancer. I was told this was per current CDC guidelines.

You must meet one of the above criteria and have either shortness of breath or cough and fever. NO EXCEPTIONS.

So basically 99% of people cannot get tested at this places right now even if they have COVID19 and will pass it to many that they will come in contact with.

At this point COVID19 centers are where sick people go to not get tested and infect others. Many were very coughing a lung up and having to use their inhalers repeatedly.

We were given masks at soon as we entered. I had brought my own mask just in case. The problem is that there were a lot of very sick people that I saw were not offered testing walked out the door and tossed the mask on the ground in the parking lot and drove away. I bet most of these people assume they are fine and don't even consider keeping away from other people as soon as they are told they don't meet the criteria.

You're likely only going to get tested if you go to ER with these severe symptoms and meet criteria or are sick enough to possibly require hospitalization.

We aren't testing people at all compared to almost all other major developed countries.

We can all thank the wonderful CDC for these guidelines and instead of using the test EVERY OTHER COUNTRY is using. They had to go make their own which was a total failure and now we are sending out the newer version of the test and playing catch up.

The current numbers of infections reported CANNOT BE ACCURATE. Those numbers are almost exclusively coming from severe cases in the ER including hospitalized patients. This info coming from multiple physicians and other providers I know who are working in ER, on inpatient hospital units, and ICU.

Hopefully somehow every expert in infectious disease and epidemiology is wrong otherwise we are fricked.

Our government is so incompetent, what a failure.

P.S. of course there a bunch of frickhead parents bringing little kids into the lobby and letting them run around, scream, and play on the floor. They will 100% get infected and give it others.

Bidens dementia seems to be worsening on a daily basis.

Im enjoying watch him crash and burn but its getting so bad i almost cringe.

You can especially tell by the aggressive and agitated outburst he had with that union worker last week. Those symptoms start to come out more as dementia advances.

The wheels will continue to fall off...

I dont see how its possible Biden survives the presidential debates. I cant see your average swing vote
r/independent voting to pull the lever for his senile arse

Trumps gonna get reelected fairly easily imo, i think even if coronavirus and economy are worse than we expect
I think its possible this could have run through earlier than reports are saying.

But if covid19 had been in USA many months ago or past couple years as some in this thread are suggesting-why would it start all over again in a particular China and spread across the globe? Doesnt make any sense

Ochsner covid-19 testing centers

Theres a couple of these set up at urgent care locations. Closest to me is midcity new orleans ochsner urgent care-turning it into just a covid testing center

I get that health officials want to keep people with milder symptoms out of the ER, that is a good strategy.

But if you go to these places and get tested for coronavirus i feel like you are basically guaranteed to catch it if you dont already have it, while you are sitting on your arse for hours waiting to get tested

Unless im having difficulty breathing (very highly unlikely) im gonna just stay home and take some advil and otc cough meds and maybe rewatch the sopranos
You are correct. I need to edit the 3.4% is total population averaged over all age groups.

Young people and children significantly lower. Children extremely unlikely to have a severe case
Yea i can agree that CDC numbers could be premature.

Id like to see Italy put out its official numbers, they are the most heavily impacted right now
Virus expert: As much as 70 percent of world's population could get coronavirus

I’m a healthcare provider (PA) and am concerned by the amount of people down playing the seriousness of this virus.

The flu has a mortality rate of about 0.1% vs coronavirus 2-3.4% (CDC and WHO). That mean the coronavirus is 20-34X deadlier than the flu.
-Last flu season 61,000 americans died from the flu.
-if you extrapolate that number for increases deaths for coronavirus for lower to higher death rate estimates: 1.2 million(2%mortality rate) to 2.07 million deaths (3.4% mortality rate)
-The coronavirus has no vaccine and is MUCH MORE INFECTIOUS.
-A significant amount of our population is vaccinated against the flu which protects the populations as a whole. And we have antiviral therapies that reduce severity of influenza such as tamiflu and xofluza.
-With no vaccine, antivirals, and being much more infectious than the flu, the coronavirus could easily kill more than 2 million people.

EDIT**: Young and healthy people have a very low chance of dying (less than 1%) while people 70+ 8-10% chance, and 80+ is a 14.8% according to CDC and WHO.

-Diabetics have a 7% mortality rate and several other chronic conditions such as hypertension, copd etc have elevated death rates.

Ochsner main campus, westbank, and kenner campuses already have areas of units dedicated to people who are currently infected with coronavirus. The official test can take 3-5 days for be able to get absolute confirmation if the virus. Colleagues of mine work on those units treating covid-19 patients. We will hear results and increases in cases soon.

The test is not widely available so most people who get sick wont even get tested or often can have mild symptoms but pass it to others who have a severe response.

Infectious disease experts are predicting 40-60% of population will be infected and the pandemic will last 3-6 months or more

If you are young and healthy but get sick the biggest risk is passing it to elderly.

-One of the inpatient units I work on is a geriatric unit with people 60+ with many 85+, my patients will be in deep trouble if they contract coronavirus and likely > 1in10 wont survive.

Hopefully this helps clear up some of the bullshite that ignorant people with no healthcare knowledge or experience are spreading about how there is nothing to worry about.
My screen name came from mocking Obama for calling IRS targeting conservatives and several scandals at the time "phony scandals"

Nice try. Im sure you didnt read the article, gave me a downvote and went back to masturbating and eating cheetos

Mostly partisan hacks on this board unfortunately. Cover your ears and eyes if something does instantly agree with your worldview!
Side note:
I did not vote for Trump or Clinton in 2016. I have always loathed the Clintons so having Trump win and the MSM melt has brought me alot of joy these past couple years. I think overall Trumps done a good job, economy rolling, low unemployment. Things would be even better if he could possibly say less stupid shite on Twitter which constantly fuels the left

Anyhow Ive previously read about Epstein and his sex trafficking ring and how Bill Clinton had taken 26 trips on Epsteings personal plane.

How come no one has discussed the Trump-Epstein connection:
Daily wire 2016

There is reason enough to question a link between Trump and the sex trafficking ring.

Epsteins brother had testified previously that Trump had been on the Epstein personal jet atleast 1 time. Trump acknowledges a 15 year friendship and notes that Epstein loves beautiful women as much as himself but younger ones too.

Trump also had 22 other women since 1970 acuse him of sexual misconduct.

If you cant take off your MAGA hat and stop drinking the koolaid long enough and honestly take a hard look at this then i think you are as big as a problem as these leftist loons who never will self reflect about how their ideas are bullshite and they keep repeating how "real socialism has never been tried"

Epstein, Clinton, Acosta, and all these other dirtbags need to be thrown into jail for life.

And if turns out Trump participated in this sex ring then he should immediately be thrown to the wolfs like the rest of them no matter what your poltical stance

And you have a weird problem with reading comprehension. A black writer was just saying that he cares more about the dealings of a current politician today than 30 years ago. What he was saying was a hypothetical based on what he believed the black community at large would think. I don't think he's right or anyting but it's certainly not a big deal...

So you think this CNN writer would have the same nuanced take on the VA governors picture if he was a Republican?

Thats the whole point im making. Whether you think some guy that racist 30 years ago has matured and changed his views-definitely possible and probable.

But theres no way in hell he spins it this way if the governor has an R behind his name
quote:

Some of the biggest champions for black people in America's past have been white politicians who were racists.

This shite is unreal. CNN has reached a new level of depraved journalism.

The article literally discusses how racist white men of the past have done some good things for black people historically so America should consider that when dealing with this frickhead govenor of Virginia

The left is biased and will accept blackface/kkk outfits as long as its a Democrat. Disgusting fricking hypocrits

However the hatred Trump has drawn out is gonna have major long term effects. Especially in 2020 when the Dems win the election. Their need to "get even" is going to push the most liberal agenda in American history. We are going to move far left too fast and all because of Trump.

The economy would have been trash under HRC. However, I do agree with these last 2 sentences and am cringing at the thought that someone like Bernie or other far left politicians will draw more support in the backlash against Trump
Trump couldn't figure out chess if he tried.

Let the man stick with checkers

We beat UGA because of our opportunistic defense. Most of our points came on short fields. It's been like that for most if not all of the season. Our offense really struggles to sustain drives

I agree. And we kicked 5 field goals vs uga if i remember correctly. Credit to the defense and cole tracey but we have struggled in red zone this year

Where were you people BEFORE Kirby was hired . We are LSU . We don’t hire coordinators. We only hire coaches with Head coaching experience. Kirby didn’t qualify .

I just said I wanted Kirby before he left for alabama and we knew Les was going to be gone pretty soon.

Ok well maybe thats part of the reason LSU has been mediocre for so long is that we wont look at the best defensive co in the country who works under saban as a good hire

Kirby put 21 points on bama in the first half and is on the verge of back to back playoff appearances.

Id take kirby over coach Os "outcoaching" him at home for one game and then completely turning around uga season all day long

Kirby smart hire vs CEO

Kirby has been at Georgia since 2016. In his second season he goes to a national champship and takes a shocking loss due to Tua's great play.

Does Georgia really have that much more talent than LSU stockpiled up over the years? I really dont think so.

I know Kirby has been a great recruiter but hes only been there for 3 years and he quickly resurrected the Georgia program

I really wanted Kirby a year before he left bama for uga. The guy had an oustanding resume and had run the best defense in college football year in and year out under Saban.

Meanwhile we hire CEO and you see what we get. Yes he is a good recruiter and yes he won a game more than I expected but hes just not an elite coach and never has been.

What other major college program would have considered him for this job and what elite coaches would have put Ensminger back at OC this past year?

You get a 9 win season but we cant score a single point on Alabama at home.

Bottom line is that if you want elite results you hire an elite coach with an amazing resume.

Hopefully CEO can hire a decent OC but you really have to question his judgement for going with Ensminger.

Is CEO really a highly intellectual coach that can do the little things, hire the right staff to bring us back to relevance and make us even competitive with Bama? So far it appears the answer is no

Yes we beat Georgia this year at home, i think they were over confident, we played harder and shocked them.

Does anyone think we beat them today? Not a chance

Does anyone really think O can replicate the kind of success Kirby has had at Georgia in just 3 season?
