Life at 30

I have a question for all of you who are over 30 years old. Go back to when you were exactly 30 years old. What was your life like at that particular age? Were you where you wanted to be in life? Were you in the job/career that you always wanted? Were you married with kids? Were you a home-owner?
I ask because I currently am 30 years old and honestly feel like I haven’t achieved much compared to my peers who are the same age. I have a decent life but wonder if I’m far behind in the race. This may be a silly question, but is 30 too young to have a mid-life crisis?

Life is like golf, play your own ball.

When I was 30 I was single, no kids and in a transition type job
At 35, I'm married, 2 kids, own a house and am in my career type job
shite happens fast

Stop comparing yourself. Theres ALWAYS someone better. ALWAYS. You'll never be "good enough ".

Everyone is different, but I was where I wanted to be when I was 30. Married for three years, had a one year old son. Had just switched from a shitty job out of law school to the job that I wanted (and am still at).
That said, 30 is still young and you have plenty of time to figure shite out.

Just wait until you turn 31. 30 didn't bother me a bit but 31 came and I went into full on panic mode. Sit back, relax, and get used to constant feeling of inadequacy.
Welcome to your 30's!

I am 30, and I can't check any of those boxes.
But, I try not to base my self-worth on such things. It is hard given the societal pressures, but I have a decent amount going for me outside of those things. I'd say that its natural to start comparing yourself more with your peers, but remember to always go by the beat of your own drum, and that life is a marathon, and happiness is all about perspective.

I'm 31. It all depends on what you are comparing. Am I where I wanted to be at 8? 12? 16? No to pretty much all of them but I am more than happy with where things have gone.
At each different age, I wanted to be something different when I "grew up". When I first went to college, I thought I'd graduate, get married, wait a few years for kids, then open my own firm by 30. For the most part, I am extremely glad my life did not go as I had "planned".

It's called a quarter life crisis. its when you realize that who you thought you would be and who you really are come to blows and you have to adjust your perceptions for your reality. Its a thing. look it up.

I was smoking a 8 ball of crack a day, pimping out hoes and stacking bills.
Just where I saw myself.

I was married with a kid and a house at 30. I'm almost 41 now and it feels like time for a mid life crisis. Bring on the girlfriend, mullet and Corvette.

Yes I was actually way ahead of where I thought I’d be. But that May say more to my expectations than anything else. Best piece of advice is don’t compare your life to others but compare it to what you want.
If you’re not there, make a plan to get there and stick to it.

Never stop learning. Never stop growing. It’s the journey not the destination. Your life can change in an instant, so I don’t thing having rigid standards/expectations is a healthy idea. This is coming from an old fart who was in and out of school until 31.

Don't worry, you will be dead before you know it.

After that I told myself I wasn't getting married until I was 30. That worked out well and right at 30 years old I was engaged to be married and married later in the year at age 30.

Were you in the job/career that you always wanted?
quote:No, that came at 32.
Were you a home-owner?
Just be sure in what you want when it comes to marriage, kids and owning a home. No shame in waiting.
