I sort of agree. Individual sports (tennis, golf, and boxing) are way more exciting than team sports at the moment.

When you get older, it's not as important anymore. I still love sports, but I'm not crushed for days like I used to in my younger days.

Well, I hope that’s the case for most normal adults. There are much more important things happening in the world every day than the result of a sporting event.

I actually had the most fun watching football this fall as I have in a decade and it had way more to do with my oldest son (6) being really into football. Little dude is like a sponge wanting to know about different teams, players, cities, etc.

Amari Cooper seemed to blow up every time he watched highlights or a late afternoon game so he essentially thinks of him as how I used to view Jerry Rice.

I love sports. I just appreciate it for what it is and don't idealize it.

I'm not nearly the sports fan I used to be. Only really watch Saints, LSU and golf.

Between full time job and two kids my interests have shifted.

Has anyone pointed out that claiming women’s sports have parity is ridiculous?

Sports don't feel as fun/exciting the older you get

NBA is long past my interest
NFL went from obsession, to only saints and Steelers to only saints to now, no interest.
MLB stopped being interesting in the early 90’s when they went on strike for nothing, and I at one time could recite league and player statistics ad nauseum.
College basketball is kinda boring and the refs decide many games.
The playoffs in cfb are terrible, but I’ll follow the tigers
The only one that still stands the test of time is c baseball . It’s great.
Also, I attend some high school games because I like the enthusiasm

I think we are getting over saturated with YouTube, cable tv, and all of social media blasting everyone 24/7/365 with sports.

I know I've reached my limit.

It seems the only sports where there is some fresh blood in the mix is NHL or womens sports. More parity

Gotta disagree on the NHL. I used to love it, now they’ve taken all the intensity/fighting out, added another ref & the “Department of Player Safety” and it’s become a boring over officiated mess. I didnt even watch the Cup Finals last year

Sports is a young man's game...both for the athlete and the viewer.

At a certain point, as someone once said...you realize you're just rooting for laundry.

If you live and die with a team after the age of 40, there's something terribly wrong in your life.

Bill Simmons once told Larry Bird, "you were a part of 13 of the 20 greatest moments in my life."

Bird said laughing, "you need to get a better life."

Between my Saints and Pels, I am deflated, dejected, and haven't really watched sports in a week. This is what it must be like to be an Atlanta sports fan.

Sports is an addiction. I’d like to say I’m going to watch less cause of the latest Goodell fiasco but I’ll be knee deep in March Madness and the NBA playoffs. Is it possible to just turn that off?

You are getting old. It happened to me as well. It like a Christmas tree. As you get older you have more responsibilities and less time so you have to trim your time allocated to sports. It’s getting smaller as it goes up.

Sports hasn’t changed. You did.

There was a guy...who wrote an article years ago...saying he used to listen on the radio to these baseball games all season long with his Dad...and they'd just sit there quietly and listen.

And he said he realized later in life as his Dad was dying, what a waste of time that was.

They could've been spending far better time with each other over the years...doing stuff together.

I agree that sports can be a bonding experience...but there's a limit on how much time you want to invest.

He said he wished him and his Dad had gone fishing more or just talked...instead of listening to baseball games on the radio not talking.

In short he said, we all get worked up about sports while alive but in the end, doesn't mean shite. It's just entertainment and often not very good entertainment.

Pick and choose. Don't follow blindly and live and die with the outcome. If a sporting event interests you, fine. But don't waste your days hoping your team wins by watching every game like it was the most important thing in the world. Spend time with your family, enjoy life. Don't live miserably because your favorite team sucks. It won't mean anything when your last breath is taken.

The first 7-8 responses told me enough.

Sports should be 1 of a variety of hobbies. If it becomes more, you’re investing a lot of happiness and time into things outside your control. Dangerous & a recipe for unhappiness.

And I say that as someone who is an absolute sports fanatic.

You gotta separate it from YOUR real life

Super team era in NBA kind of ruined it for me. I’ve watched one NBA game this season and it was a Pels game a buddy had an extra ticket to and invited me to go with him.

NFL, I probably saw about half the Saints regular season games and the only non-Saints games I saw for most part were the primetime games. I’ve realized there’s better stuff to do during the day on Sunday most of the time
