House Democrats passed two more bills Wednesday to reopen the government that most Republicans continued to oppose, but there was one surprise in the otherwise predictable floor proceedings — freshman Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez voted “no.”
The New York Democrat, a rising star in the progressive wing of the party with a massive social media following, explained her vote on Instagram.
“Most of our votes are pretty straightforward, but today was a tough/nuanced call,” Ocasio-Cortez wrote on her Instagram story showing her walking to House votes with her policy team. “We didn’t vote with the party because one of the spending bills included ICE funding, and our community felt strongly about not funding that.”
Ocasio-Cortez and some other progressives want to defund or eliminate Immigration and Customs Enforcement. She has supported previous Democratic spending bills that provided funding for the agency.

She doesn't care. She doesn't believe the U.S. should really even exist, that we should be some sort of UN zone, devoid of language, history, culture or moral compass. And sadly she might win, without borders does the U.S. really even exist?
For all we know she could be working for terrorist or other radical groups.

Somebody told her it was an amendment cutting out the mid-afternoon 15-minute recess for freshmen legislators. Which would also explain why AOC took to the floor and angrily demanded universal playground privileges for the entire world.

Well, if you're supposed to vote your constituents' wishes it is very possible that her district favors open borders and a 90% tax on rich people.

Man some of y’all really struggle to grasp the way politics work.
She voted against it because she knew it would pass anyway, and now she can look like she’s taking a strong stance for “what she believes in”.
And in any future debate or critique she can throw it out as an example of how she doesn’t always vote straight party and is a free thinker.
