Aren't you the idiot defending CJJ a couple of years ago and blaming the players? You have no credibility either. GTFO!

First of all many of the LSU lob passes are coming off baseline and backdoor moves so to criticize base line play is wrong. The UGA defensive strategy was to pack it inside by playing zone and it had limited success but UGA did this
to try to slow LSU down inside. Nothing new here.
Second, LSU suffered at times at the free throw line which is uncharacteristic of this team. This is not strategy or coaching related.
Third, LSU was up by 20 points in the 2nd half. How you translate that into LSU being out coached is puzzling.

quote:this is one issue i have disagreed with you the whole season. i understand what the metrics say but, stats can't capture everything.
LSU forced 17 turnovers last night BUT UGA, one of the worst offensive teams in the league coming into the game, still shot 54% overall and nearly 50% from three...on the road.
LSU's defense is largely feast or famine. Either they create a big play (steal or block) or they allow a good shot. Rarely are they forcing contested shots. It's either the opponent doesn't get a shot at the rim OR they get a good look and you just have to hope they miss it.
first, i was at the game and watched the recording. all the cuts were almost 100% attributable to mays and smart being lazy. they lost contact with their man on a bunch of possessions. uga did a great job passing and that created easy buckets. also, uga has skilled bigs. that is going to attract attention and it did. other teams can be well coached and have athletes. smart was getting beat for rebounds too. at one point, mays let a guard run right past him in transition.
the reason why i don't agree with the metrics is because lsu is not getting beat the same way defensively every time. early in the season people were complaining about the 3 pointers. now, it's cuts. last game, it was gafford. isolating the d metrics takes an aspect of the game out of context. i don't put too much stock into that when the team is beating outclassed opponents. now, if they make a habit of being lazy against better opponents, then i would agree with your point. i would imagine lsu will up for auburn/state/uk/tenn.
you note that they created a ton of turnovers. well, that's good defense. and then you note they shot better than usual. that's a big part of the difference, not a defensive breakdown.

This team is so young that it's not fair to give them an overall assessment yet! A lot of these guys were walking high school halls a few months ago. Give them time and then give them a fair assessment. They're also 15-3 and 5-0 in the SEC, so things can't be that bad!

quote:the game was never in doubt against uga or scar and lsu killed ole miss in the 2nd half in oxford. that's what i mean by the metrics not capturing the whole picture. people were complaining, rightfully so, about the blown leads. that appears to have been fixed. all this with a bunch of new faces and now they even seem to be dealing with success well. just trying to keep things in perspective
I think the numbers showed they've had more below avg. defensive games than above-avg games

Unless you have a veteran team it's hard to stop another team being affective when your team hasn't prepared for it in the middle of the game. They changed up what they were doing and it was apparent that they weren't ready for it or hadn't seen it often or ran as effective as GA was doing at least.
I promise you that Will Wade knows exactly how to eliminate it but the players were confused. I'll bet anything that the next team that tries is won't have near as much success bc he will have had time to slow it down and show them how to defend it. That's what it takes with a young team sometimes. Sometimes they get it right away. That's why veteran teams can typically beat younger teams because they've seen it all and know how to adjust quickly.
Sometimes if the young team has as much talent and is prepared for what ever is ran against them they can knock off the veteran team. It happens but not often when both teams have equal talent. Sometimes teams just have an off game. Every time you see a game that looks like LSU was out coached but still wins, you should say hell yes, now we'll be more prepared the next time and even harder to beat. The more they see, the more veteran they'll be. Bring it coaches.
LSU wants to see it. Let's see what y'all got.

Yeh, sure they are, thats why theyre ranked and we’re not.
Oh wait, youre an idiot, we’re 15-3 and Georgia wishes they were in our position.

People are really overthinking LSU taking off a game against a bad team. A game in between a game against an undefeated SEC team where they played great and a two game road trip. It was the perfect spot to relax a bit.

What’s up Ree? Your sig line says it all...

Yes he’s the idiot defending JJ all the time. Again, Will Wade is an elite coach. Look at where we are in year 2 from the roster he inherited. What was our record the year before he was hired?
I’ll wait for JJ’s buddy to reply

LSU is lucky that LSU has had some great recruiting and has the players with the talent to override coaching issues. The coaching continues to improve. If the level of play keeps up, this will be a great year for LSU.

I'm not a basketball expert but do like to watch and think I can tell that LSU is better than it has been in years. I no longer sit waiting for us to blow a lead.

damn and I thought we had won that game.

Lmfao, oh the jealousy is eating you alive, you can’t stand what Wade is doing right now. Why won’t you answer the question of what specifically did Wade do to be out coached Wednesday? What mistakes did he make and what about his gameplan looked bad to you? Can you backup what you say or are you just running your mouth out of pure jealousy and hatred? My moneys on the latter.
