Legos make a great toy for kids, but how come they are so expensive? Wanted to get some for my nephew and instantly realized frick that after seeing current prices. Is it due to demand? Is it just for the unique pieces like the Millennium Falcon, etc? Btw the millennium falcon is $800 on amazon.

Yeah, but that version is over 7,500 individual pieces.

You can also get a lego Millenium Falcon for $120.

This is why I have saved all my legos for when my kid is old enough to enjoy them.

LEGO is expensive because every brick EVER MADE by them is compatible.

They only use a mold and die for a few runs before using a brand new one.

This ensures they are always the same brick...but at an increased cost

Definitely been wondering about this for a little while. But found one of those millennium falcons for over half off on a different website last week and waiting on it to come in and see if it was legit or not.

Think its from China so we shall see

Branded sets are going to be more expensive.

Lego owned IPs city/chima/Ninjago/space/those robot guys are going to be cheaper.

Random assortments and starter sets will be cheapest.

Fun fact: the plural of LEGO is LEGO.

LEGOs is not a word.

The instruction book on one of those big sets probably costs $50 by itself lol
