How much more do/would you pay to not live around trash?

Curious, how much is it worth to you to not live around trashy people. I know I could save myself a boat load of money every month living in a cheaper place, but I don't want to deal with the people that would put me in proximity to.
I just watched the Houston Galleria video and it got me thinking, I pay a lot of money to not live around people like that.

As long as the trashy people aren’t violent Or noisy or bothersome, doesn’t really bother me.
I’d rather trashy neighbors that minded their own damn business than model citizens who try to tell me how to live my life and what to do on my property

I'm ok being that person 
I know I'm not trashy, so if I'm at the bottom of my neighborhood then I've succeeded.
Truth is, you can never fully avoid it. The neighborhood I'm in now is really nice, it's a smaller gated community. Average home price is over $350k, I have the smallest house here. We recently had a person in the neighborhood get arrested for running a meth lab. Never would have known it from talking to him, he was an underwater welder. He's sold his house and I'm guessing in prison now.

My fam and I live on a cul de sac to discourage potentially trashy outsiders and people poorer and darker than us from passing by and admiring our plastic/stucco Taj Mahal.
And they could never afford our HOA and club dues.

You can always be trashy even if you have money so you'll never truly avoid trashy people. If they don't bother me, I don't care. I live in a row of townhouses and I've never had issues with any neighbors.

I'd rather live in a place where everyone else is cognizant of the fact that they live in relatively close proximity to other people and therefore take that into consideration when making decisions that may affect said people. Typically not a problem. I don't let me house go to shite because I take pride in it, but also out of respect for my neighbors whose home value is somewhat affected by my home's appearance. They show the same respect. In a perfect, respectful world, you don't need an HOA. But people suck.

I chose to live around trashy people when renting an apartment after moving to new places. I refused to throw a ton of money away on rent and new it was temporary.
It really opened my eyes to people being a product of their surroundings. Not only are people living in low rent apartments trashy as f***, but most of the kids don’t stand a chance.
I live in a gated neighborhood now and spend a whole lot more than I want on HOA fees and am shielded from trash. It’s worth every penny esp for someone trying to raise kids.

Ive generally found this is true away from large cities and the further west you go.
