Considering the effect that last year’s recruiting class has had on the improvement of this team, how are we looking to continuing to add such talent this year? Do we seem to be in the hunt for any hotshot prospects?

Right now we have signatures from a 3* guard and a 2* guard.

I know there’s other people we are high on, but it’s been pretty quiet.

Trendon Watford
Khadim Sy
Lester Quinones
Raymond Hawkins

Basketball recruiting is silent during the season pretty much after the early signing period. Expect it to pickup a ton at the end of the season till NSD in April.

Some potential names are:

5-star C N'faly Dante (possibly reclass to 2019 from 2020)
5-star PF Trendon Watford
4-star SG Lester Quinones
JUCO PF Khadim Sy

Don’t they also have a guy currently on the roster that would have been in this class but was reclassified and is now redshirting?

To me they're both better at the 2 Guard, then the Point.

I think Javonte will become a great PG with time.

I have been critical of Waters at times (still pissed he missed that free throw that woulda sealed the win vs FSU), but he will be missed next year.

There are two players redshirting.

Courtese Cooper (6-8 PF/C)
Aundre Hyatt (6-5 G/F)

They both came in as PGs, they just arent as good as Waters. Smart is more a scoring PG. Neither is going to average 6-8 assists a game. But with both on the floor you have guys who will combined for that if not a bit more.

James Bishop coming in is a scoring PG not very unlike Smart, think of him as a Smart-lite.

Mays was the co-PG with Jalyn Patterson his freshman year.

We will lose raw assist numbers but we'll also not turn the ball over as much. Waters gets a lot of assists, but his assist/turnover ratio isn't anything special.

You can add Daryl Edwards to the list . He is appealing to the NCAA for a medical redshirt , & if I understand the rules correctly he will get one.

Here is the plan.
We sign Sy, the 6-10, JC center.
And bring in every available point guard graduate transfer in America.
On their recruiting visit they are given elaborate psychological tests to evaluate their leadership skills and team-oriented behavior. They are interviewed by every player on the team, and every coach on the staff. They are given physical tests to determine ball handling and passing skills. They are rated physically and psychologically. We offer the two best. And sign one.We sign Dante (just as we did Hyatt last fall), and get him to reclassify for the 2019 class.
Here is the team.
C - Dante 6-11, Fr. -- Sy 6-10, Jr.
PF - Sy 6-10, Jr. -- Williams 6-6, So. Cooper 6-8, So
SF - Taylor 6-5, Sr. -- Days 6-6, So. Hyatt 6-5, Fr.
SG - Mays 6-4, Sr. -- Smart 6-4, So. -- Edwards 6-3, Sr.
Manning 6-6, Jr.
PG - Mr. X 6-2, Gr. Tr.-- Bishop 6-2, Fr.

Star ratings depends on which service you reference.

LSU's other signee, Charles Manning jr is a JUCO guy that has grown 3 inches since HS. IDK how often these services reconsider a players ratings, but Manning is a lot better than a 2 star rating.

I've hear LSU is in very good standing with Watford, Sy and Quinones.
Hawkins is a new name to me.

I think if they do indeed get Watford, Sy and Quinones, the team will be very good. I don't see anybody replacing Tremont, but Bishop is good, just not that athletic, not as athletic as Tremont.

To kind of play around with potential lineups for next year:

Khadim Sy - Courtese Cooper
Trendon Watford - Emmitt Williams - Darius Days
Marlon Taylor - Charles Manning - Aundre Hyatt
Skylar Mays - Daryl Edwards - Lester Quinones
Ja'Vonte Smart - James Bishop

Could look pretty good still. Sy is someone we should get to replace KBW IMO. Watford would be a very nice land if we can pull that off. LEft Daryl Edwards in since he is pursuing medical redshirt, but thats a spot we could potentially replace as well if that doesnt work out or he wants to graduate transfer.

Cooper was a big shot blocker in JUCO, but doesn’t look that big when I’ve seen him at games on the bench.

Any intel on how he has looked in practices?

Hopefully he’s a big leaper that plays bigger.
