Cooper was a big shot blocker in JUCO, but doesn’t look that big when I’ve seen him at games on the bench.
Any intel on how he has looked in practices?
Hopefully he’s a big leaper that plays bigger.
Cooper has got pretty good athleticism to him, he was maybe like 6'8, 200ish coming in. I bet they get him to 225-ish for next year. Greg Goldin did a great job with Tremont, not a lot people point that out. Most of the guys who were here last year look better built this year. He also kicked Naz Reid's butt into shape over the summer/fall. Dude had a lot of fat on him.
Cooper is a bit like a mini-KBW in some ways, he'll block some shots, but he also has a 3 point shot in his arsenal that will surprise teams early on. Still very much developing offense though, he wasn't like a 1st option for his JUCO team last year on offense (it was a really really good JUCO team).

It will be nice to see guys develop over multiple seasons. Watch the difference in our guys and Tennessee's players when we play them. They have a good S&C coach, but they also have a ton of upperclassmen. Hopefully we can get some guys to stick around like they did.

I'm really excited about Darius Days and Emmitt Williams. I know many might not agree, but I think Emmitt (and Darius) might last 4 years in college. The biggest problem he has is he's a 6'6 true PF who doesnt really handle the ball much at all. He is so strong though and has been a beast on the offensive glass. Pretty much his offense is offensive boards and "being nasty" if you around the rim with dunks and tip ins.
If days can continue to develop that 3 point shot and get his body fully into shape, the sky is the limit for him, because he's a hard working rebounder too.

Emmitt Williams reminds me of Rodney Rogers from Wake Forest and the NBA.

Days is definitely a 4 year player. Williams should be 3-4, but we usually don’t have that kind of luck.

i noticed that espn doesn't have lsu in the top 25 nor for any top 100 players. well, lsu is listed with 15 other schools for Quinones. not listed for watford.

I've been trying to find out something, but nothing so far. His JUCO film he looks long, good wingspan, just needed to get his legs stronger. But I think he will be a nice addition.

quote:For some reason I don't think Edwards will be back at LSU. I have a gut feeling Wade is looking for a point who can replace Waters. A quicker and faster guard than Edwards, Smart or Mays. I don't have any definite info on this, just feel he has someone on his radar. I think Edwards returns only if Wade can't bring in that guard. But, like I said, this is only speculation on my part. Sy will be the low-post scorer LSU doesn't have. You know, that guy with his back to the basket that can score 6- percent of the time he shoots. I think with this lineup they will be a better inside team than this one. Just wish I had info on how well Cooper is progressing.
To kind of play around with potential lineups for next year:

Wade has sung Cooper’s praises many times for his ability in the scout team and said that has really gotten guys better.
Days and Emmitt will be stars later on. We have a great coaching staff, and I can’t wait to see guys develop. It has been an absolute pleasure to watch Mays grow

I just don’t know how Naz Reid goes pro after this season.

Most can’t, but he likely will. I still think Waters comes back. I’ve looked at 5 mock drafts today, and Waters didn’t go in any of them at all, and wasn’t even mentioned as a bubble player. He’s 5’10, and just reminds me of those great 4 year college players.

You got that right. When he first got to LSU I wasn't sold on him, but the way he has developed is really amazing. His vertical and his aggressiveness has improved. He drives to the basket with confidence and finishes smart. Rarely do you see him pick up a charge when he drives.
