Night Golf

Someone might know this better than me. Why aren't there any courses around here, or anywhere in the US to be honest, equipped for night golf? You see a lot of courses overseas that do it.

Pretty sure we have a lit par three course here in Dallas

There’s a 9 hole par 3 course in Houston that has lights called Mulligan’s.

The overwhelming majority of courses can't make money during the day why in hell would they add the additional expense and open at night?

Beacon Lakes in League City on the southside of Houston. 18 holes of poorly lit par 72 golf. Around 6800 yards. Can play until 10 or 11 pm in the summers.

Golf courses are shutting down all over the country because they're losing money. Night golf would be lighting money on fire most places.

When I read "night golf" it reminded me a certain group back in my hometown that would sponsor a coed night golf "tournament" each summer. This was not the lighted golf. It was golf with the glow in the dark balls and glow sticks on the flag. It would always end up being a borderline orgy.

I think I saw a flier at one of my local courses for at tournament like that.
9-holes before sundown, then 9 more with the glow ball.

Myrtle Beach has three night par-3 courses, and one par 58 "Executive Course" that is under the lights. Longest hole is 313 yards.

Lake Bruin CC? Is so, I'll see you there. It's a hoot.

We used to have a par 3 course / driving range in Slidell that had lights. Its where the sheriff complex is now right off I-12. I'd give my left nut to have that place again.

I’ve thought about this many times because as a working dad with young kids the best time to play would be 6-10 pm on a weeknight. With a working spouse it’s like trying to get a BJ to get out for golf on the weekends and getting more difficult due to all the sports. I’d gladly pay a surcharge to play a decent course with some lights just to get out on a regular basis. Seems if you added a bar/restaurant and driving range/practice area you’d have some interest. Maybe as LED technology evolves it will be financially feasible. They turn on quickly and could only be run if players are on the hole vs having to keep big halogens running a long arse time.

That would be cool. Motion censores with LED spotlight. Courses could leave the place open to only walkers. Have some teenager man the desk to check people in. That may really be a decent solution one day. I would do it. Tee off at 8pm and play until midnight.
