Winn Dixie opens up taproom in Florida store

quote:

Have you ever wanted to go shopping with a cold local beer in your hand? What about hang out and watch TV while your significant other picks up a few essentials? Well, you’ll soon be able to do both at the Winn-Dixie in Neptune Beach. Yep, seriously.

Southeastern Grocers, Inc. (SEG), the parent company of Winn-Dixie stores, is introducing a new taproom concept to the Neptune Beach community.

This latest store evolution will offer Neptune Beach customers the opportunity to “sip and shop” as they stroll through the store aisles, relax in the convenient pub-style seating areas with flat screen TV’s or grab a growler to go.

This is like a company coming out with a new concept this year, the smart phone.

The Winn Dixie's around here would bolster sales better by offering malt liquors instead.

I would be happy if our local Winn Dixie just upped its beer game, I couldn’t even fathom a taproom inside the store.

I didn't know Winn Dixie was still around. All of them around here went out years ago.

the Piggly Wiggly stores in Bham are doing the same thing, have been for a while

they sell by the 1/4 or 1/2 gallon; all craft brews and as many local brews as they can

they use plastic milk jugs, but also sell a reusable glass container with their logo

samples on Thursday nights at the one near my house

it's awesome

Schwegmann's had been doing this since the 1950s. That's how husbands started going to the grocery.

I live right by that one. They’re trying hard to revitalize it but there’s a Publix and a Luckys less than a quarter mile down the street. There’s a marked difference in ummm...the “quality” of customers at the Winn Dixie.

I hope they can turn it around though.

You can also shop with a beer at Luckys and another nearby store called Native Sun. It’s not really new here.
