I'm sure this will be funny, hope it's not too political.

It exists to be political.

Im not sure what is so hilarious about the idea that countries would attempt to spy and or create weapons in space. People act like the idea of a Space Force is to fight aliens.

Pretty sure The Orville has already hit the note this will attempt to hit.

I'm confident it will be a political hit piece that will come off more as angry and spiteful instead of lighthearted and funny.

Other shows you should avoid:
Get Smart
Hogan's Heroes
Gomer Pyle USMC
F Troop
Sgt. Bilko

and...

Carter Country

This is just another workplace for them to find workplace humor. Saying this can't be is like saying a show about political back door dealing can't be funny. Sure one direction a show like that can go is House of Cards, but another take on the same concept is Veep.

Is Steve Carrell very politically outspoken?

There's nothing inherently hilarious about working at a paper company in a generic office park, and yet here we are.

I get why you'd think this exists to be political because it's Hollywood and a show about something that Trump announced, but to me, this could go a thousand different ways. Could be poking fun at the government as a whole set where Michael Scott is given a blank check to do whatever, could be poking fun at the fact that just the idea of a "Space Force" sounds ridiculous, regardless of whose idea it was. Could just be a port of The Office but in space, and we could see a jello-encrusted stapler floating through the space station; could be them fighting aliens. Who the heck knows, but I'm in.
