I keep seeing references to this but apparently I missed the joke. What’s it about?

Some LA folks think then people in northern states are flooding corn to intentionally keep the ducks from flying south

In northern states corn fields are flooded so that ducks can swim up the cob and eat the corn. You don’t have to be moron to believe that, but a flooded rice field is the same thing. Not saying that’s why the duck season is so bad here but you can’t say you must be a moron or believe that corn fields are flooded.

DU has been maintaining sanctuaries up north for years that ruin the migration south unless it gets super cold there.

It’s why I no longer support them. Delta Waterfowl ftw

I heard there is a new hybrid coming out next year with that has the butter and salt flavor when the cobb matures.

They are calling it 'duck bait'.

Several years ago I met up with one of my Texas buddies to hunt in SE Kansas. I lived in Oklahoma at the time. We hunted a large corn field next to the Neosho River. The field had a three foot levee around the perimeter of the field. In the fall they closed the levee and pumped river water into the field. The field had two large permanent pit blinds where we hunted. So in essence it is the same as rice fields except the levee just surrounded the perimeter of a level field. We didn't kill many but I could see that it could be effective. That's a flooded corn field. In the spring they breach the levee, the field dries and they again raise corn.

When it’s 54 deg F in Canada the ducks aren’t going to budge as long as they have food and water. It’s not rocket surgery.
