With Captain Marvel coming up and Brie Larson looking like the biggest casting risk they’ve ever had I was curious if people thought they had missed the mark on any others?
I think all the original Avengers are all perfectly cast. I honestly can’t picture anybody else playing those parts. Cumberbatch is a great Dr. Strange and Tom Hiddleston knocks it out of the park as Loki.

I guess recasting Rhodie would automatically mean they feel they made a mistake in that choice.

I wouldn't say they missed the mark.

One role where I feel they could have done better was Black Widow. Their first choice was Emily Blunt and I think she would have been much much better than ScarJo.

Blunt turned them down, so there's not much they could have done about that.

They recast Banner, also.

Black Widow is extremely weak. Wasp, Gamora, Nebula... they're all killing it. Scarjo phones it in.

I always forget that since Ruffalo has been the hulk since Avengers 1.

Wonder how much she regrets it. I thought Evans and Scar Jo had great chemistry in Winter Soldier.

They recast Rhodie because T. Howard was making an absolute arse of himself and demanding more $$$$. If he hadn't been such a PITA, he'd have been back. He actually did a good job in the role.

Norton to Ruffalo was for essentially for the same reasons.

They've pussified Banner so much, it's making me miss the science James Bond Banner that we had in the Norton Hulk.

I never bought Mickey Rourke as an intellectual rival for Tony Stark.

Other than that, I'd say they've done rather well.

Depends on what you mean by miscast. Marvel apparently didn't want to pay Terrance Howard the original agreed upon amount and Howard apparently didn't want to work for what they were offering. It wasn't a miscast in the sense he didn't work for the character.

Same with Edward Norton as Banner. It was a miscast from the standpoint that Norton is a dick to work with.

I like Don Cheadle in pretty much everything except as Rhodey / War Machine. I feel like Terrence Howard was a better fit and had better chemistry with Robert Downey Jr.

I don't think Don Cheadle is terribly miscast, though. I just find him really bland.

I’m really curious where they are going with this angle. I hope it’s for some dramatic return of an even more extreme badass Hulk.

At first, I liked Ruffalo as Hulk. But I thought he was terrible in IW. He tried to be cheeky but his tone came off as more annoying than funny.

I didn't follow the saga. I googled the recast, and read the first link on the page.

Doesn't really change the crux of the argument though. He wasn't recast due to not fitting the role, but due to a "contract dispute." Whatever the actual situation.

I can agree with this but Sam Rockwell as Hammer was great. I’m not even going to talk about the abortion that was Iron Man 3.

My wife thinks his stroke affected his performance. You could clearly see the face droop in some scenes.

Ruffalo was awful in Thor Ragnarok. He has let his irl skyscreaming soyboy personality take over his acting.

Speaking of that, are we ever going to see superhero Pepper Potts?

I've been in love with Gwyneth Paltrow for my entire adult life...

The whole Hulk hiding angle was garbage as well as the cheesy as hell, badly done CGI for Banner in the Hulkbuster armor.

I don't mind Ruffalo as Banner. Norton was good too, just a dick to work with.
