They don't have SNAP and EBT cards. Isn't it obvious? Also not only do they not get free phones, they don't even get to go to the zoo for free! I think the U.N. should get involved. This is the only thing between Africa and Wakanda!

ETA: On the Wakanda note. Rewatched Infinity recently and I had forgot how Bruce Banner couldn't figure out this super scientific thing so what did he do? Go to Africa. Wakanda. Where they are known for their otherworldly scientific skills. He must have googled "the best earth scientist reside in what country". That would explain it.

Honestly?

the World bank and IMF, among individual nations, provide money to corrupt dictators for the right to extract minerals at bare bottom prices and allow them to do their murder/genocide/rape to keep the party going.

One theory that I read is that the Silk Road couldn’t get through the Sahara, so Africa lags behind Europe and certain parts of Asia because of this.

Same with Central and South America.

The inability to provide clean water is one of the main deterrents to any progress.

Bruh if all of Europe was colonized by foreign nations, riches extracted, rule of law disrupted, people enslaved, atrocities committed etc it would look a bit different too.

Yes African nations have much of the blame to bear as well, plenty of time to get their shite in order, but we’re looking at it as outside observers saying why can’t you be like us when we’ve never been in that situation.

Centuries of European colonial powers stealing their resources. Once granted independence the borders were drawn arbitrarily, initiating ethnic and tribal strife that derailed many economies. Propping up by first-world nations of military dictators as a bulwark against communism in the continent.
