1. How many teams have more than one really good left handed pitcher?
2. You can also be a dominant right and get lefties out. We have that.

I don't think that 90% of college LHPs are good enough with their control to truly give a platoon advantage.
Eh, well we're competing against that 10% for championships.

The majority of the better teams in college baseball. Vandy, for instance, has 7 on their roster

Well, I guess we can revisit this if Vandy makes it further this season than LSU behind the arms of those 7 left handers then.

It's really 50/50 on that. Duke, UConn, Stetson, Mizzou, those are some of the schools with some of the top draft eligible lefties.
Kentucky, Arkansas, TCU, Louisville, and A&M also have very highly rated lefties.

I just said, you can't overstate the value of having solid left handers. I get that. I just don't see it being a major problem for this pitching staff at all.
All this is doing is letting rantards soak up this info to use to complain about CPM as soon as LSU loses a baseball game.

I don't think anyone has said it's a "major" problem. Just that it's an issue. As stated previously, there is no "perfect team" out there. Talking about different deficiencies we may have at certain spots doesn't mean that we're screwed or that Mainieri sucks.

Well it's all conjecture at this point. We will see at the end of the season if not having left handed pitching is the krypotine to this LSU staff.

There's only one positive to having few lefties on the team: PM won't overthink matchups.

this is an insane take for someone who follows baseball like you do
you do not need to be some insanely talented LHP to be more affective vs left handed hitters than most RHPs

I did say last year, when we only had one effective lefty on the roster that I wished we had gotten this kid from LSUE: Ridge Heisler
I was high on Petersen coming into last season, but I think Heisler would have been a more valuable pick up than Nowak was. I have no idea on the details of their recruitments though, so we may have never looked at him.
There are a couple lefties at Santa Fe in Florida that I hope we look at but I doubt we will. One is a bounceback from Ole Miss and the other from Virginia.

Yall are putting way too much emphasis on lefty lefty match ups.
This shite is not that big of a deal
In the MLB in 2018:
LH vs LHP avg: 234/305/363
RH vs LHP avg: 251/330/423
The average MLB hitter hits .248/318/409 for reference.
So RH hitters actually hit LHP above league average.
That is a huge difference in numbers.

the numbers are batting average/ on base % / slg %
easily found. Facts are not "conjecture"

Would you rather have Hess, Marceaux, and Walker all weekend or somebody that's average just because he's left handed?
So I guess I opened up this can of worms by mentioning the lack of lefties, but I never meant to imply that I would trade any of them for an average lefty. Would I trade a guy like Clay Moffit or even Vietmeier? Sure, but I dont know how the scholarship numbers worked out. I think you're reaching here. We're just discussing the one deficiency on the roster in a healthy way. No one is calling for CPM to be fired because of it. But I'm 100% certain that at some point this season we will get in a jam with runners in scoring position with a big hitter up who cant hit lefties and unless McMurray is that guy then we will have to rely on one of our RHP to get that out. I'm sure we have RHP with the ability to do that, but as a coach you would like to have the option to play the matchup
