Doing a gumbo crawl with some friends in the quarter. Current suggestions are Petite Amelie, Revolution, Gumbo Pot, Palace Cafe.

Just looking at places to have a cup of gumbo and a drink. Any other suggestions?

Get out of the Q and go to Herbsaint. Best bowl I’ve had in the city.

The only bowl of gumbo I have ever had in a restaurant in my entire life that stood out was the death by gumbo at Revolution

I actually have never been to Mr B’s. Can we walk in without a reservation and just order gumbo?

Sure you can, either early lunch or before dinner service. Heck, I would just head to the bar and make it happen.

You just need to try it outside of the NOLA area Lots of great gumbo in restaurants in the Laffy area.

Bruh, Im from Brusly and have had Gumbo all through restaurants around the spillway and atchafalaya regions

While good, they never stood out because gumbo at home and other peoples house are just as good. It just isnt a difficult dish. I rarely order it in restaurants unless its part of a course or half and half lunch special because of this.

However, Revolutions gumbo stood out to me. It was thick and smokey unlike any gumbo I have had before

Petite Amelie

Is a coffee shop. Cafe Amelie is great though, both the bar and courtyard are perfect.

Stanley Restaurant on the corner of Jackson Square. Easily my favorite gumbo in the city.

Napolean house is decent & is FQ to the bone

Galatoires has good gumbo, I’m pretty sure if you wanted you could go into Galatoires 33 next door & order some if it isn’t on their menu as I believe they share kitchens

Arnauds has a standout too

No baw. We didn't have these fancy driving machines to be able to take us 3 hours away.
