Put it on with the intention of giving it 15 minutes then being ready to pull the plug, watched it all and glad I did. One similarity to John Wick that I didn't like was the dogs dying.

Blut was almost a caricature too far, really the only misstep for me.

I can see where the overall plot was predictable but admit I didn't see it coming, Chekhov's gun went somewhere I didn't see it going.

Watched it last night and really enjoyed it. My wife really liked it too and it’s not her kind of movie.

Fun movie. Like a smashup of Wick, Equalizer and Smoking Aces. Not as good as any of those but worth a watch if you like any of those movies

The bad guys were comic book villans, the entire thing leaned into comic books (it is based off a dark horse comic after all, dark horse takes the "crazy" approach to comics: think Hellboy and Sin City)

Great movie, and the assassin fricking knew who she was the whole time, I love how that girl actually thought she got something over on him. ok sweet heart

**Spoilers**

ETA: also, did you guys catch that he was ok with dying in the end... and why it was "his life for hers" because unlike people in their business... he left his retirement to her. He was going to screw over that douche one way or the other

Just don't know how male actors can film those scenes without popping a boner. I would think even closeted gays would have a stirring.

I went in with low expectations and was entertained throughout. I feel like Mads Mikkelsen negotiates a scene in every contract in which he MUST be covered from head to toe in blood.

Some of the acting in this movie is truly horrible. Good hangover movie though.

why do these characters always have that "connection" with the firepower of an army to give them?

They don't make movies about the ones who don't

Yup, those guys get TV shows:

When your burned you've got nothing. No cash, no credit, no job history. Your stuck in whatever city they decide to dump you in.
You do whatever work comes your way. You relie on anyone who's still talking to you: A trigger happy ex-girlfriend, An old friend who used to inform on you to the F.B.I, your mom... if your desperate, and a down and out spy you met along the way.
Bottom line as long as your burned your not going anywhere.

Gave this movie another go with the girlfriend earlier and she even liked it, and I would really like to see Netflix work on a sequel.

Kathryn Winnick is so damn easy on the eyes. I could literally just stare at her on camera. I won’t even get in trouble for saying that to the ole lady

Having said that, I could try, and fail, getting used to a sandwich between Winnick and O’Fee

This was smoking aces with a John wick plot. Not as good as wick but entertaining.

Movie was so fricking badass, to me it's better than John Wick and I'm a huge Wick fan. Netflix knocked it out of the park. This could have easily been a wide release in theaters and done really well.

I wouldnt say it is better than John Wick, but at the same time I wouldnt say Polar is better than John Wick. They are completely different stories with completely different screenplay. While both protagonist are very identical characters... “John Wick” is very fast paced with adrenaline going the entire movie, while “Polar” is going at a much more natural pace of an action movie while having more of a storyline to it. If you prefer the action, watch John Wick. If you prefer the entire story, watch Polar.

With all this said, the cinematography in Wick is so much better cause of the money put into it. That is what makes John Wick so cool.

Watched last night thinking it was a series.

After it ended my thoughts: it should be a series.

Thought it was great. Had never heard of it but it popped up on my suggested list for my hungover Saturday lunch movie. Gore was a bit much for my state at the time, but other than that I really enjoyed it. John Wickesque action, and enough story/twists to keep it interesting.

The difference between John Wick and Polar is the way they go about telling / showing the story.

John Wick is a low budget action slog, lots of fun, a hero who is just plain better than his competition, great nonstop action, great world building.

Polar is a low budget burner, smart action with a main character that thinks his way through a problem because this enemies are younger but not smarter, over the top comic book style story, and great world building.

Both are great, and I can't wait for a sequel to both
