The rumor comes from a Facebook page for Porsha Washington (which appears to be the mom), being Facebook friends with a user account named Fan Eric. Some say Fan Eric is Eric Black, despite no apparent resemblance. It's also noteworthy that Fan Eric is FB friends with about 1600 people and 99% appear to be female.

Eyewitness accounts are notoriously unreliable. This is true, in large part, because our perceptions are colored by our pre-existing biases. Did this woman have pre-existing biases against white people? Probably so. As a result, her brain interpreted the things that she saw in a manner in accord with those pre-existing biases. It’s simply the way the human brain works.
This is one of the many reasons that lawyers would prefer not to have to base a case solely upon eyewitness accounts.
Did she also embellish? Who knows? Maybe.
