I'd say that a coach's salary is a pretty good measure of his market worth.

Yes. I don't see how you can't rank him in the Top 5, really.

OK, I promise I have not even looked at any of those lists, but I'm guessing these are the top ten coaches listed:

1. Pete Carroll
2. Urban Meyer
3. OUs coach
4. Mark Richt
5. Charlie Weis
6. Tressel
7. Kansas coach
8. $$$$$ (Alabama's coach)
9. Michigan's coach
10. Jim O'Brien

Sorry, I'm in a hurry and having trouble remembering some names this morning.

How'd I do?

And Miles is not a media whore.. so the media doesn't worship his every fart & belch.
Any other coach who went for it on 4th times & was as successful as Miles would have been crowned a genius, a sure hall of fame coach.
Can you imagine the glassy-eyed, babbling tributes to Saban, Spurrier, Carroll, Weis, Stoop & the Myth if they had the guts that Miles did???
Yet Miles is ridiculed as a "gambler", "risk taker", "chancy" etc. It's ridiculous.

Cant wait to hear what Tyrone has to say about it. Kobe is probably in the top ten. Ole Pete has him on speed dial.

Like someone else said, it's partly the way he presents himself.
For many, the jury is still out on him being one of the top coaches in the country.
He had average talent at OSU and posted an about average record.
He's had top tier talent here and has three Top 5 finishes.
He's 34-6 but had the bounce of the ball or a call gone the opposite way, Miles could easily be 22-18. On the flip side, could just as easily be 38-2.
We've had that many close calls.
The overall talent has had to save games that should not have been close.
He inherited a gold mine and has accomplished what all LSU fans knew these teams were capable of.
When you go back and look at each game & how they played out, you'll see he's been very close to giving us three disappointing seasons.

You can probably say this about any team in the country!

But few have been as loaded as this team the last three years.

Sure, he's got the bucks now. He's right there at the top in the SEC for contract dollars. He's won an NC. He's taken a team to a 34-6 record over the last three years. He's destroyed three Top 10 teams in three straight bowl games, two of which were BCS bowls.

Richt so damn overrated. I think he's a good coach, but some people act like he's working with very little talent in UGA

Richt is up there for his ability to motivate. His x's and o's are kind of like Miles.

Just when will we be able to rank Saban then? Damn, he's not responsible for his tanking in Miami because they weren't his guys, not responsible @ Bama because his guys aren't there yet AND he's getting accolades for a team that he hasn't had ANY association w/ for 4 years.

Miles is coaching these players and they are HIS..........therefore your comment is dumb.
