LSU missed the Burrow touchdown on the first possession of the Fiesta Bowl failing to call a timeout for review. Announcers noted the possible touchdown for review. Later, LSU requested a review of the muffed punt during the second half, bad decision, there was nothing there to overturn, this leading to LSU not having any timeouts the rest of the game. LSU missed a first down at the end of the half of the Fla game, Danielson stating that LSU should look at the play. Without delay, Coach O sent in the field goal team without review, oblivious that LSU had the first down made on the play. These mistakes are unforced errors. Coach O needs to seriously look into this.

I think that was a direct correlation to the two early lost challenges against aTm

The fact that we ran hurry up on a play that the booth could have reviewed or we could have reviewed is mindblowing.

i thought they spent a bunch of extra money bringing in additional staff. seems like someone should have been keeping an eye on this.

Coach O did not call timeout to review the muffed punt. R Lawrence called timeout on the field because they had a linebacker out of place. The coaches used the timeout to review being it had already been called.

Burrow's run may have been a TD and it may not have been, but the spot at the one yard line was horrendous.

At worst the placement should have been at the one foot line.

That's not what happened exactly. The time out was called by Lawrence because the D was out of position. Since the timeout was called they figured they might as well challenge the punt.

Not challenging the Burrow stretch at the goal line was totally inexcusable. Immediately brought me back to the mistake in the Florida game. I'm not an O basher at all and I think he's demonstrated that he can handle this program but those calls are really easy stuff that can have a huge impact on the game and fall entirely on him.

Last drive of the game was botched as well with the indecisiveness to kick a FG or go for it on fourth down. Led to a delay of game forcing us to punt.

If they come back to tie that game, the focus would be on that sequence today and Coach O would be under fire.

I was surprised Burrow didn't act more like he scored. He appeared to be the one pushing for next play

I thought this thread was going to be about a bench press accident.

Maybe the "spotter" lacked the time being they hurried to the line to run another play faster than superman. One of the players should see those things and tell the coaches they need a review.

So correct me if I am wrong, which I am more than sure some of you would love to do.lol

But, on the muffed punt, it looked like a catch, no bobble, etc. Ball hit ground, thus looked like a possible fumble as the catch and ball hitting ground were so close together. I thought the ground could not technically cause a fumble in college football if down or completed catch. Bombs away.

TigerRee was supposed to be the spotter but he was too busy playing around on Tigerdroppings.

It's ridiculous that the replay officials didn't review that play. I understand the coaches not wanting to use a challenge since they were thinking it was highly probably we'd score with 2 chances from the 1.

But there was plenty of time for the replay officials to stop play. They had until the next snap of the ball. So, they had the time from the initial spot, the time it took the officials to set the ball at the 1, the time it took us to get lined up, the time it took the officials to call the false start and move the ball back, the time it took for us to get lined up again and snap the ball.

After the false start, we should have gone ahead and challenged and I'm not sure why we didn't. Orgeron definitely needs to step up his feel for the challenge rules. I think overall he's really good and managing the game and clock, but he appears to be really weak in the area of when and how to use a challenge.

Agreed! I failed to mention this in my end-of-season analysis of the coaching staff and team. Very good point. When we play an equally talented team away from home it seems the bias is there and the LSU coaching staff needs to be more prepared. If we can see this on the TV screen you would think someone upstairs is paying attention. Maybe all they need is someone to watch the damn game on TV and call in to let coaching staff know. Crazy how good the TV and replay booth commentators see things so quickly and accurately. Any volunteers?

That’s not a spotter issue it’s a head coaching issue
