New Glocks: G48 and G43x
Posted on 1/2/19 at 8:42 pm
Posted on 1/2/19 at 8:42 pm
Both single stack 10 round 9mm
Apparently the new G48 (left) is basically a single stack G19 that is .16” thinner
The G43x (right) is a single stack 10 rounder that uses the same G43 slide, barrel and spring but new grip and mag. New G43x mags won’t work in the old G43. Neither have a rail for lights
Not sure what the heck Glock is doing lately

Are their sales taking a hit?
I know you need to keep innovating to stay relevant, but at some point you get to a point of diminishing returns.

i read they may be doing it in anticipation of 10 rd mag bans but likely just internet comment paranoia

The 43x is to compete with the Sig P365... not sure about that 48... seems kinda pointless.

A light and a good holster are a good start.
I always put a Hogue grip on my Glocks too

Change out the plastic sights. They suck.

Get an H&K VP9 SK instead
BTW I'm a Glock fan but I don't understand this

Why does everyone say this
There's only one other guy on here besides me who enjoys the factory sights.

It’s not about enjoyment . It’s a question of practicality. Do you want the rear aperture snapping off on something?
I don’t think the U-Dot sight style is all that bad but the fact that they are plastic leaves much to be desired. I’d say that for any handgun with plastic sights. Sights are an essential part of the handgun.

Looks like a S&W Sigma... yuck

I don't mind the factory sights, but they get beat up once you start putting in and out of holsters.
I see what Glock was doing. They are catering towards the guys who want more rounds/more grip area but don't want to sacrifice the extra width. I was big on the 26 as my carry gun then I finally switched to the 43. The thinner gun really makes a difference when wearing shorts and thin shirts.

This is not really innovation.
Sig stagger magic is innovation. But a 10 rd single stack 43?

At least on the 365 you can add a rail for for a light.
But I think Glock is tailoring more to the smaller hand peeps and/or those that like a think profile pistol. I don't hate either new pistol... other than the color. All black or FDE.

There is a market for people that want the single stack concealment and comfort for iwb carry but also want the longer sight radius of a compact like the 19.

my thinking as well. they just keep tweaking current designs and calling it something new.

The polymer pistol is like the bicycle.
There are no other things to tweak except trying to introduce new materials to reduce weight. Or maybe some new spring will create better accuracy and recoil. But there than that, the 365 can put a dent in g43 if the can iron out the kinks.

Switched the sights on my carry glocks for this reason, otherwise the factory sights are fine for range shooting

Sure. At the range. When SHTF not many people are lining up sights trying to snipe bad guys with a handgun. Cheap factory sights are fine for working on stance and grip to create that muscle memory needed for instinctive shooting out to about 15-20 yards

I've had the OEM plastic sights on mine for 6 years and I haven't had any issues. Granted I'm not doing all the tactical racking off my belt very much either, but they've suited me just fine. Front site post has some burrs on it from holster wear but it doesn't affect my accuracy.
