We go 1-2x a week as well. Never went before the new one opened, but can practically walk to it. The “inedible” sentiment is so overblown on this board. The food is fine.

Personally, I've had some dinners at Superior that were great, and have had some things that weren't so hot. The chicken or beef were over-seasoned or over-cooked.. Many more great meals than not so, but it seems to me their issue may be consistency. I can honestly say that I've never had bad service, and I've always had a good time being there.

Moved from BR to Lake Charles 3 years ago, so I don't have much experience since the new location opened up. But, when we lived there my wife and I would frequent there at least twice a month.

The food is fine people! And of course the margs are great. Order the fajitas mesquite and you can't go wrong. It's and off the menu item.

This is my favorite restaurant.

Fajitas mesquite

Steak tampaquenia

Top shelf margarita on the rocks.

Can’t loose with these.

this statement speaks volumes

Why the DVs? If you tell me the best food at a Mexican restaurant is ribs and hamburger steak, then that is not a very good Mexican joint.

I’ve always enjoyed my meals there. Brisket tostadas are good. Happy hour margs are obviously great too.

Exactly, and this is especially true of the Mexican (Tex-Mex) related topics. You can post about anyplace in the state and you will get a lot of comments about the food being garbage, etc.

I’m sure it’s not the best restaurant in Baton Rouge , but the service is always great and we have three kids under seven yrs old.

Usually get seated right away the atmosphere is loud so nobody gets mad about the kids.

It is way too overpriced (Fajitas are around $30 with tax) for decent food at best, you are basically paying for the experience. Everytime I have been there it is a circle jerk of all the 'whos who' in BR (lol like anyone cares whos who, youre in BR).

My fave mexican/tex mex in BR is La Carreta

That’s interesting. The one on government street was never like that.

I was just about to say he must be talking about Government because Highland is definitely not like that either. I'm at that bar nearly daily. There are regulars who know the bartenders I guess(?), but I'd hardly call knowing the bartenders a "who's who"

, but the food sucks and it always has
then Reality set in. The food is good. But the Mexican food does not justify the price Superior charges. You are paying for the atmosphere. and most people can understand that.

the ones that cant shite on it with no context.

In my mid to late 20s (early to mid 00s) Thursday's at Superior on Government were awesome.

I've seen one person in there I've recognized and it was John Delgado

That's when I knew I was drinking in a special place.
