His name was Garoppolo, and Brady won the power struggle.

Granted Kraft was put in a shite spot, but you don't go from getting first round offers (potentially with other picks) to settling for a second rounder near the deadline.

Oh I'm very aware of the behind the scenes story & Belichick trading Garoppolo for beans to spite Kraft.

Belichick comes from the Bill Walsh philosophy that you get rid of a player before he begins his decline. A loyal Robert Kraft was having none of that. Belichick banning Brady's trainer from team facilities was in preparation of moving on from Brady because several other Patriot players used that guy as a trainer as well. Kraft put a stop to all of that which leaves the Patriots unprepared for when Brady play really drops.

The question becomes then, does Belichick just walk away if he feels Brady can no longer carry the team? Or does he try to find another QB who can keep them competitive for championships?

Doesn't mean anything for Drew IMO. For someone who has accomplished so much I have never seen a set of fans of that player that are so insecure. All that crap about the "GOAT" is bull shite. You can't separate players when they reach that level of success. There are so many variables and reasons why they got that far that you can't really compare. I think when they get to that point you just saying they are all great. Who is to say who is better. Some will say well Brady has 5 super bowls and Drew only has 1. But they are only one player. Who had the better supporting cast? Receivers, Line, Defense? Who played in a stronger division? pick one. Who is to say that Montana wasn't better than either of them? Then you have the factor of what era a player played in and how rules changes effected his wins or stats. Point is no one really knows who the best is.
lol shut up. You know TB12 the GOAT

Depends on how long Brady can legit keep playing, and if Belichek still feels the need to prove he can do it without him at that point.

Knowing the Pats, he'll flip some picks to move back and get more picks, flip those for higher picks, and the trade for a QB if he can't find one in the draft or FA.

That's usually how Belichick operates.

Brady has done WAY more than just those 5 Super Bowls. And as far as “supporting cast,” the patriots have only had a small handful of superstars during Brady’s tenure. Brady has been the one constant during these historic years.

I am black and gold through and through, but Brady is the true GOAT

Records owned by Brady
Regular season wins by a starting quarterback (199)
Most touchdowns thrown to different receivers (71)
Division titles (15)
Playoff games started (37)
Playoff wins (27)
Playoff touchdown passes (71)
Playoff passing yards (10,226)
Super Bowl appearances (8)
Super Bowl wins (5)
Super Bowl MVPs (4)
Super Bowl touchdown passes (18)
Super Bowl passing yards (2,576)

Team game. Brady has had a consistently higher defense than any other high level QB this generation, and has had the luxury in playing in the consistently worst division in football.

He's only made the SB the year's the Pats had a top 10 defense (iirc). He's also blown the SB and other playoff runs with pretty good defenses.

People say Brady but it has been a combination of Brady AND Belichek's defenses that have kept the Pats competitive. Neither would be nearly as good without the other.

So by this logic, no player can ever be the GOAT at his position because all of their successes are dependent on other people.

No, you can still judge most individual players based on stats (though they don't tell the whole story), but wins and losses (which is a big part of Brady's argument) is a team stat.

Individually Brady is definitely one of the best ever, but he's not the GoaT because of the wins and SBs. He's only part of that equation (Belichek's defenses being a HUGE part of that also).

He's definitely in conversation of being the GoaT because his stats also line up with that. But there are other players that are in the conversation, despite what idiots that say it's clearly Brady think.

It was pretty funny how, much like the year we won where everyone assumed Manning was getting his second, everyone was giving Brady his 6th.

Man, you put together a really good logical & rational post yet someone still downvoted you.

I really don't understand some of these idiot posters line of thinking most times.

Used to it. And while it may seem rational to some, I can see how others (the people who say Brady is the GoaT no matter what) can see it as irrational.

It comes with the territory on speaking in divisive arguments.

I see my comment on Dianna Russini in that other thread was pretty much universally agreed upon, however. I was a little surprised by that.
