Saw the original post on LSUBarstool but it was a cropped out version. Dug up my mom's yearbook and found the actual full version with included story. Image at link below. Geaux tigers!

This is a relief to me. Rantards always existed, they just didn’t have a voice until the 2000’s

Yea he sucked balls at field goal ‰.
Kickers are arrogant assholes. I had a locker as a walk-on next to Andre Lafleur in 94. He was indisputably an a-hole, but he embraced it. It made him kinda likable after a while.

Arnsparger's tenure was plagued by short, missed FGs at critical times.

'84: Juan Betanzos missed a short FG vs UF in our first game that would have won it. Instead we tied 21-21 I think. Betanzos had been a good kicker in '82 and'83 but just lost his confidence in '84 and was replaced by Ronnie Lewis.

'85: Lewis could have won it vs Bama but missed a short FG at the end. We tied 14-14. And that was the beginning of the end for Ronnie.

'86: Lewis gets replaced by left footed David Browndyke who had made 4 FGs vs OM. But he missed late and we lost 19-21.

I was at that game and worked with Ronnie after I graduated LSU. My first week at the job, I was going around the office meeting people and was talking to him when I saw the photo on his wall and put two and two together. We got a big laugh out of the story. He and I were friends for several years after that before I moved on to a different career path. Nice guy.

He got a try out for the NFL (with the Cardinals) after graduating and made it through four days of camp before being sent home. His story of that was pretty funny. As he told it, the first three days were meetings, physicals, basic combine type tests and such. On the fourth day they suited up and went out to kick. They booted a few and started backing up and almost immediately were at his career long with the other candidates easily making it. He told me he knew he was in over his head and ten minutes later he was packing his stuff to head home. Shortest NFL career ever.

We lost to Miami of Ohio in 1986 so he had zero business flipping anyone off but himself.

Had nothing to do with that loss. LSU fumbled something like 12 times that night and lost 9 of them.

Well at least in the 80s no student would have needed grief counseling after the incident unlike Millennial's...

He choked against Bama too. That is probably what burned his hole the most.

Lol so true. There would be tears and screams of horror today if they were faced with such an incident. Oh the outrage!!

Oh yeah, he sucked it up for a bit. Without the Ohio schools in those couple years, we could have been in the running for a national championship. Fun times.
