Apparently people are posting dumb comparison threads, so here’s another for that crowd. Note: Football was played at LSU before 2000.

Which Center you got?

As a child of the 80s, Nacho was my favorite. Definitely have to appreciate Mawae though.

Gambrell and John Ed don’t really belong on that list.....both were good, neither was outstanding. Then I’d throw out Mawae. He was a valuable lineman, but only a part-time center. That leaves you with the three best, Fugler, Nacho, and Wilkerson....all of whom were All-Americans. Tough to say after that.

As far as the most versatile C, I'd have to go with Wilkerson. I liked Mawae and also Nacho.

I guess it depends on what you mean “most versatile,” but I’d give the versatility nod to either Mawae, who played all across the o-line during his years at LSU, including long-snapper, or Fugler, who played both ways.

It would be tough for me to pick between Mawae and Wilkerson. McClure and Albergamo would be right there. The others are also great Tigers.

THIS is the correct answer.

Football was indeed played at LSU before 2000.

Even before 1985 (if you can believe it).

Nacho Albergamo was a great Tiger, but an average center. He belongs nowhere near that list (although he has one of the greatest nicknames of all time)

I meant from strictly center duties, it's a shame he had the micro fracture that kept him out of the NFL. Yes, Mawae played multiple spots, as did Pocic who I always thought would play G in the pros.

One of nine unanimous All Americans (the only interior linemen) in LSU history doesn't belong on the list?
