Or drivers who werent at fault, but we have a stupid "pedestrian is always right" mindset that transfers to these. Thing many millenials on them have a car? So no ins either way your ins is getting hit for uninsured.

Yall in LA that bitch about high car ins rates...congrats on another increasing factor. But hey some local peeps can make 25 bucks a scooter charging them up.

For a board that absolutely detests bike riders, this thread is hilarious.

I remember when dallas got limebikes and scooters, but I haven’t seen Lime anything in months.

Will see a few bird scooters in uptown every day, but it seems like the number has drastically dropped from the heyday.

Suing government has always been the gravy train for the trial lawyer industry. As long as they can pin some minor percent of blame on the city/state, then it doesn't matter if the scooter driver was helmetless, drunk or naked.

The trial lawyer industry and their benefactors in the legislature have already established ground rules to get judgments because of roadway design and maintenance deficiencies for automobiles. So when the government requires the scooters to use the roads, then the lawyers will declare that road design, signage and maintenance must accommodate scooter travel in a perfectly safe manner.

Then on to the courts with bought off judges and dumbass juries - Jackpot!!

I deal with a similar approach all day long at work. it's been around a long time, but seen it gradually increase more over the last few yrs. Like with more intent not fooling anyone with the "I didnt know we couldnt do that" kind of thing. Unfortunately they hook customers, and harder to fight. Luckily I saw it happening, studied it, and started putting processes/policies in place. Unfortunately not easy to manage, and constant vigilance. Why all this facebook data sharing type stuff isnt as easy as many think. it's not just an IT security thing, and thats all people focus on.

I drive, so I’m not staring at the sidewalk as much as you would be. Especially since everyone in this city drives like a blind child with Down’s syndrome.

I hate them. This thread has flared up my road rage sitting at my desk.

it's b/c they find a way to make money. So of course "freedom" rights get tossed around. And people bitch about why politicians are corrupt. No different then those who sell their opinions.

some of y’all are so afraid of anything new

Having reading comp issues? Not afraid of anything. I've dealt with it since the beginning of the year if you include the bikes. Scooters came to my part of town late spring. This morning I look out my window to gauge the weather, and 3 are laying on the sidewalk across the street with there lights blinking underneath.

So nothing new for me.

Oh and not really a new thing since there have been laws in place for a long preventing the way they have been used.

I signed up to charge them the day Bird showed up in Lafayette about a month ago, they just contacted me this week and shipped chargers, they are actually due to deliver today.

Same with Lime, except they contacted me same day and setup a meet location to give me chargers that night this week.

Lime pays a flat $4 no matter how dead it is but looks like in other markets they can actually fluctuate, $4 kinda sucks though and there's not many of them so they get scooped up quick.

Most Birds look to be $5 but there was several on the app yesterday that were $7 and $8, I saw some on the app last night that were just $3. I live downtown and there was 4 Bird scooters on my route home yesterday that would have paid me about $30 to grab and charge. They'll pay up to $20/each for the ones that are pretty dead or hard to find but most seem to be in the $5-$8 range. Bird wants them all picked up every night where Lime doesn't, so there's more Birds to grab than Limes.

I don't plan to make a job out of it but I live downtown, no kids, my wife works until almost midnight most nights, and if I can make a few extra hundred bucks while I normally would just be hanging out on the couch then I'll give it a shot.

Only reason I stopped doing it was because it was a bit of a hassle getting them in my car and I got tired of waking up early to put them out

Every once in a while I’ll do it to get some beer money

About the only reason I considered it is because I have a truck, live about 2 blocks from where most of them are, and will be able to set them all out by leaving 30 minutes to an hour before I normally would to go to work. I'll give it a shot to see if it's worth the hassle.

They got some real hustlers out there tho

I was happy with making 20-40 bucks a night when I had nothing to do

Some of these dudes are finding a way to fit 20 scooters in a damn Honda Civic.

Then they’ll have the ones with trucks riding around and will have 40 or so scooters in the back with a generator that they can charger the scooters while they pick them up.

That’s another reason Lime is better because you can release them as soon as they are charged, with Bird you can’t release them until 4am and they have to be released by 7 am

Good luck to you. I'm not against people making some extra cash. Most of the issues seem to arise because the charging people set them back out in crappy places.

I've seen the scooters blocking handicap parking. I've seen scooters left right in the middle of side walks. I've seen scooters blocking access to business etc. Try not to do that please.

I did get a kick out of watching wipeouts this year at ACL fest. I waited on some friends for a while. I saw 4 or 5 spectacular scooter wipeout during that time.

That’s not from the chargers that’s from the users. When you charge there are certain locations you are allowed to drop them off at and can only drop off a certain amount of them. It’s based on demand and foot traffic and usually the place is a side walk or bike rack in those areas. They make you take a picture of how it is set up and if it’s not located properly then you don’t get paid
