Here's the thing: it's impossible to love as much as God does. But I love my children as much as possible, through what I do for them, how I correct them, how I serve them, and just the attention I give them. There's no doubt, or at least I hope there isn't, in their minds that their daddy loves them very much. So when I attempt to teach them about God, teach, not brainwash, and I short change His love and greatness, I'm not doing them any favors either.
Plus, my goal is to raise them to seek their self worth in God and spiritual things, not in stuff that's going to fail them at some point. I don't want my son to judge his life on how well he can play baseball or how good looking he thinks he is. I want him to know his value based on a God who will never abandon him, made him just the way He wanted him, and has a purpose for him. That's what I want my children to know. If they reject that, I will mourn it but it's out of my hands, but I will still love them.
I can't tell your posts are satire about crazy religious nuts, or if you are one.

Good luck dude. There are 4200 religions in the world. If they end up choosing one of the others, or none at all, it won’t be the end of the world.

The ReverseATM meme has been so funny. I know that people are shocked when a church adopts technology in a way that's convenient. A terminal that lets you give via credit card has become a life long OT joke.

I love seeing people make this point like it is supposed to make a difference.

similar upbringing, there was a guy from our church, nicest man you'd ever meet, a painter, lived hand to mouth all of his life, had some land inherited from the farm he grew up on that was pretty much worthless, until the gas boom hit N. La a few years back, he was about to receive a check for $2mil about the time he was diagnosed with terminal cancer and died quickly, he told me before he died, "I guess God never intended for me to have any wealth but that's OK, I believe the promises," guess who got the money?

they get their pesos bro, otherwise they wouldn't be in the racket, CEO of my company plays the "I don't take a salary" bit too, doesn't mention all of the stock, no interest loans(with no payback terms,) and the other gazillion perks he gets
No doubt that there are perks for leading a big organization, but there are no stock options in a church. There's no dividends.
He has a ton of support staff and help that makes his life and work easier. What I said is still true though. Go down the list of the pastors of the largest churches in the country and the vast majority make their living off books or outside of their church salary.

I don't like using him as an example
He's not a great example, but he's the most widely known and used example as sort of gotcha. So it's easy to use because everyone in the south knows who he is.

Wait...it's the very definition of brainwashing. After disclosing the santa clause myth, your kids's brains have been programed to think rationally and logically. When you attempt to make them throw reason and logic out the window (which is what's required for faith), you are absolutely brainwashing. By definition.

Your post said that "Megachurches are terrible", but his ability to buy a Lambo doesn't have much to do with that. He makes his money from things outside of what you're pointing the finger at.
I don't think it's a good idea to spend that much money on frivolous things. I believe that he made a poor decision, so I'm not trying to justify what he did either.

Agreed.

Disagree. It's called "compartmentalizing."

His books and other programs wouldn't exist without the initial church business.

False. They are doing exactly that.

Well that explanation will surely shutdown the detractors.

It's just the bible, man
Even as their father, I'm a sinful person who will still fail them from time to time. If their self worth is based on me, at some point it's going to come crashing down and/or they'll blame themselves for my failure.
It's the same for marriages. If that is built on the "you complete me" philosophy, you're putting a burden on your SO that they were never meant to carry, and a standard they will inevitibly fail at. If you base your happiness on flawed things and people, it's going to eventually disappoint you.
