Anyone seeing any chasing yet?

I’m hearing of a few nice bucks being taken in the last week walking behind does but not chasing yet. Rut is usually about 2 weeks from now ..

I would have never dreamed action this early like a saw Sunday morning in SW MS. Saw a mature buck sight chasing does, and another 4 chasing the another doe. Then the fight started. I guess the weather had em riled up.

One of the kids in our group killed an 8 point on the 1st of this month. Buck was chasing, was yelled at, stopped for a second, and dropped. That’s two straight years a nice buck was shot the first week of December.

We’re South of Natchez.

I hunt in centreville. We still have bucks traveling together and haven’t seen much as far the rut goes but it normally jumps off right around Christmas.

Had two young bucks sparring on camera this past weekend. Beyond that we’re still a month from anything interesting.

I hunt near Centreville and haven’t seen any signs of rut activity yet. I’m off for 2 weeks starting the 22nd so hopefully they’re on schedule this year. Last year the first week of January was our best week.

I’m north of Liberty and it normally gets going around Christmas. The last 2 good bucks I killed were on Dec 22 and Dec 29. My wife and son went yesterday afternoon before I got home and saw some does feeding. My oldest said there were several scrapes on the road he was walking in on.

I was thinking the same thing. If it did that’s earlier than it’s started in the past.

We are between Natchez, and Port Gibson. My cousin shot a nice buck that was dumping some does around. It is usually around Christmas for the peak, but it seems to be cranking up already.

Looking like a week or two earlier than the normal Christmas rut South of Natchez.

It usually Dec. 20th or so thru mid January for us in Fayette. I do believe it will be an earlier start this year from the reports I have received .

Guy at my brother’s lease near McComb killed an 8-point Sunday morning chasing a doe, he had to holler at it and it left skid marks where he stopped

ETA: neck was all swollen and he stunk from rub urinating

Hunting a lease in Natchez. Three of us hunting last weekend and no bucks chasing does. Heard grunts and lots of scrapes/rubs, but no bucks following yet. It’s fast approaching... may get “sick” next week.

North Mississippi is happening. Central and South, either just starting or not yet. Like every other year. There will be the occasional doe that comes in early, but doesn’t mean the main rut is kicking in. A buck can breed as soon as the velvet comes off.
