I like this discussion about these films because it highlights the fact that this is all very subjective. A film like The Brave Little Toaster is perfectly fine and is a quality film. There are probably many here who have seen it. The Sword in the Stone does have a big nostalgic appeal and many remember enjoying it as a child. There’s value in that as well, after all these films are largely made for children. However, I suspect that many on here have not seen Spirited Away or Princes Mononoke. I just can’t believe that so many who have seen all 4 films would choose The Sword in the Stone or The Brave Little Toaster over these masterpieces. They are just on a whole other level. A contest that would have both of them voted out in the initial round just doesn’t seem credible to me.

Exactly. Almost no one who voted for those two films over these two masterpieces have seen them. It’s like someone saying Armageddon is a better action film then T2. Or that You, Me, and Dupree is a better comedy than Blazing Saddles. No sense in going on when bottom of the barrel Disney films beat one of the greatest movies ever made. This thread is full of blatant lies.

I'm not a fan of Mononke, but I loved Spirited Away. One was forgettable to me and the other wasnt. Cant really explain why. Maybe I need to give it another shot. I just remember watching Sword in the Stone a ton as a kid. It was one of my favorites, but I probably havent seen it in 25 years. That's why I voted for one Ghibli film and not the other
