Devonta Lee was asked about his options between LSU and Ala

Baton Rouge’s The Advocate sports writer Brooks Kubena reported that LSU staff are seeking playmakers on offense and that several members of LSU’s staff were at the Superdome to watch Amite High’s 6’2” 212 pound receiver Devonta Lee. Lee was asked about two of the teams recruiting him, LSU and Alabama.
The Advocate “When weighing options between LSU and Alabama, is he dazzled by the Crimson Tide’s 29 points? Or does he see himself as the difference-maker on LSU’s side?”
Lee told The Advocate after recording an interception in the Dome, “I could make plays. I’m not going to say I can be the difference. I can be a playmaker out there and play some wideout, even some defense, both sides. It would be nice for me just to go over and make plays over there. But right now, I’m still undecided where I’m going to go.”

Kid has a chance to do big things for his homestate but instead wants to go join a super team out of state. I dont like that attitude

Alabama does not have room for him, unless they strike out on multiple major targets in the end which I don't see

Why? I think we are going to get the Amite guys. Does it matter why we get them? Not to me. After '03 and '07 we got a lot of traction for our success and when we get back to that level we will again. Until then, I don't care why we get the talent we want as long as we do.

It's pretty obvious he's been waiting to see if Bama had room. I'm not saying he would be 100% Bama if they had a spot, because I don't know that, but it's clear he's held off on committing to us so he could find out if Bama was even a possibility for him.
But all of the Amite kids seem like good kids, including Devonta Smith. The only trolling I've seen has been one tweet from Ish where he said roll tide, but I'm 99.9% sure that was in direct response to a tweet from T-Bob about annexing Amite from the state.

The kid wants to be at Bama. LSU has always been the place that he might settle for. This is no secret.
He’s been holding out for that commitable Bama offer and they have been telling him wait and see if they have room for him. Any other year he would already be an Alabama commit but they are assembling probably the greatest, most talented signing class in college football history.
He may wind up at LSU because of it but he’s ho hum in his enthusiasm about being at LSU.

I agree with all of what you stated.

Doesn't sound too promising

He's going to end up a Tiger, but like others have said he's clearly waiting to see if Bama has room.

He’s not the first and won’t be the last kid to play for LSU because bama didn’t have a spot for him

Maybe he takes it out on Bama for the slight.

Isn't that the issue though? "I could go over there and 'make plays'.....some slot, maybe some defense...."
No organization is as successful as it could be without clearly defined roles. From a management / coaching perspective, it's difficult to demand accountability and it creates a lack of trust / understanding that person's role by the rest of the team. Alabama sells a clear role / career path. Hey, come to LSU and support The Boot, you can do some of this and some that. That's very Miles-ish (Skyler Green and Russell Shepard).

I can’t believe LSU is willing to wait until signing day for this guy to pull the rug and grey shirt at bama or something like that.
If he doesn’t truly want to be at LSU over bama, then cut him off.

What makes you truly believe he's going to Bama?

AL will sign 50 players if they want then put the excess in as preferred walkons having some non-existent job for big $$$

Exactly they can find someone else to recruit. If he really is just keeping LSU as a backup plan recruit someone else.
