Saturday Down South grades all SEC D coordinators: gives Aranda an A.

Credits him with developing the gameplan to slowdown Tua which others have since mimicked.
O and Slinger apologists gasp, pound keyboards, insist we could have beaten Bama if defense had just been competent enough to shut out Tide and register one measly safety.

LSU, DAVE ARANDA: A
To no one’s surprise, the nation’s highest-paid assistant coach earned his paycheck. The only truly disappointing performance came against Florida, when LSU’s run defense was exposed. But Aranda immediately delivered masterful game plans against Georgia and Mississippi State in consecutive weeks to save the season. Had the Tigers not lost their top pass rusher in the first game of the season, this defense could have been special. Missing K’Lavon Chaisson and being without Devin White for the first half of the Alabama game really hurt, but Aranda may have set the blueprint for slowing down Tua Tagovailoa — as others seemed to pick up on what LSU did to the Alabama QB. Since that contest, he hasn’t quite looked the same.

Extremism at its best here.

Our defense scores a TD to go up 7 and gives the offense the ball with two minutes left and can’t get a first down. GTFO of here.

That was the refs giving LSU the rosy red meat missile up the snickers highway.

how intellectually dishonest can you be? What people have said is neither the offense nor the defense played well against Alabama, which is a true statement. The defense gave up almost 600 yards of offense and 29 points. That does not qualify as a good game. Aranda is a fantastic coach, the best on our staff by far, but he is not above criticism, as any coach isn't.
He also did not have his best game against A&M, especially closing them out in regulation. That does not mean he is not a good coach. Good coaches have poor games too. Even the almighty Saban has had his fair share of coaching gaffes.

yep. TAMU completed a 4th and 18, then a 22 yard pass then a 19 yard pass for a TD with no time left. all 3 plays in a row. not a good look at all

Did they "grade" his game plan at A&M? Kind of funny, if memory serves me, Ala had nearly 600 yards TOTAL OFFENSE!! That's quite a defensive genius!!

He doesn't deserve an A solely on the basis of that last drive by A@M. Other than that, his defense has been outstanding...except for the run defense at times.

You're an idiot. This "analysis" - and I'm being generous applying that term here - completely ignores the interrelation between offense and defense. Defenses get fatigued over the course of the game when the offense cannot sustain drives, when TOP is asymetrical, and when they consistently have to defend a short field. And of course at some point, the defensive players simply succumb to inertia, exhaustion, and indifference once it becomes obvious that the primitive offense cannot and will not ever score a point.
Here is the fact: it wouldn't have mattered if the defense had held the highest scoring offense in the NCAA to a single TD, we still would have lost. People who blame Aranda and the D for that game are mentally incompetent. As it is, the D limited Bama to its second lowest point output of the season and- as the article notes - created a template for slowing Tua that other teams have emulated.
Of course my statement was hyperbole. It's a rhetorical device. Look it up. It was intended to ridicule precisely the brand of obstinant imbecility on display in your post.

You do realize by that logic, a rebuttal is that LSU could have scored 4 td's and would have still lost to Bama.

Bud, Aranda didn’t have a good game against Alabama. They moved the ball easily from the first time they had the ball. Arguing in the alternative is flat out dishonest. I know it. You know it.
However, it doesn’t make him a bad coach. But we were outclassed on the field, on both sides of the ball.
And no, I’m not an idiot. That shouldn’t be your natural response to being called out. Be better.

For those with their eyes close.
The D has lost us games. Where we had Chavis and 3rd it seems Aranda fails in the 4th.
Remember ND game. No A for me at this point a solid B+, but he must fix the passing vulnerability.

If you give Aranda a B+ then you have to give E an F or at the very best a D-

Aranda needs to step it up & earn his high approval! Several games the defense looked bad with no pass rush at all.Make any QB look like Manning!!!

What grade does your kind give Ensminger? An A?
I've been told he's the best in the country and is doing a tremendous job.

You do remember that the D scored, got the stop, and gave the offense the ball with about 2 minutes to go. All the offense had to do was get that last first down and.....well, we all know how that ended.
At what point does the O meet the expectation of moving the f'ing ball and stop living on the hope of the D always making stops?
If anyone watched LSU all season and thought the D was more of the problem than the O, they're out of touch with reality. Our D is ALWAYS tired because they consistently spend more time on the field than the O. We have a lot of 3 and outs.
