How can anyone justify paying the price to shoot this stuff?

Tungsten shot shells costing significantly more than steel shot shells isn't really a new development.

Should cost really be an issue when you shoot less than a box of shells a year due to declining duck numbers?

IDK but a lot of people have justified it because they are sold out of everything

Well that's obvious, but their waterfowl loads are a mix between steel and tungsten. $60 for 10 shots seems ridiculous and it's just a matter of time before other manufacturers catch on to this and prices increase across the industry.

This thread could be made for literally any “luxury” item. Mais, shoot what you want.

well then buy something else. If there are enough people not paying $60 for 10 shots, some other mfg will meet your price point. That's why they have more than one manufacturer.

Those 3” #4 monarchs for like $80-90 a case work just fine for me. Picked one up this year and haven’t even tapped into them since I have shells left over from last year. I’ll do the same next year too and eventually I’ll have a good stock of steel shot.

I've got steel shot I've carried around for so long it doesn't have writing on it anymore.

then keep using estate......problem solved...

of all the expenses related with duck hunting..... shells are like number 8 or 10 back on the list.... I generally only shoot about 10-12 shots a hunt.... if I have to shoot at a strong running crip I use cheap steel 7 1/2s.....

back when I ran a commercial outfit.. we regularly did a milk jug test on various steel loads..... black cloud then and now is the best steel...... fill a milk jug with water shoot it from 30 yards(actual-not the perceptual 50 yard shots some clowns think they make with steel)... watch how quickly the water comes out.....

lead.... a shot size smaller is still 20% better in damage and downrange velo

If i was paying as much as some of these guys are paying for leases and club memberships, $60/ box of 10 is the least of my worries...

the market will never go there. There will always be economical steel to shoot.

“Changing the game”

If you can’t kill your limit with a box of cheapo super x or Kent you shouldn’t be hunting
