She initially made the alcohol-related joke about someone ‘spiking’ the punch. Perfectly acceptable.

Cousin baw thought he was ‘the funny guy’ by insinuating there were two spiked punches, with one containing drugs. A reasonable person will conclude he was referring to drugs used to incapacitate someone (see Bill Cosby) in order to sexually assault them.

The problem isn’t women taking offense to these jokes. It’s douchebags who think it’s acceptable.

Guy is lucky he still has a job. My firm doesn’t waste time or resources on sexual harassment training or seminars. We let the associates know if you are a shithead, just go to the strip club. Any minor infractions, especially against a fellow employee, and you’re gone.

You fricking can’t be serious!

Woman can joke about spiked punch, but man cannot joke about spiked punch.

Woman good, man bad.

By the way, we ARE talking about a JOKE, right?

Not a joke about an individual person.
Not a joke about a particular group of people, (race or gender group, etc).

A joke about AVOIDING spiked punch. “Might have date rape drug, AT A COMPANY PARTY, ha ha, better watch out.

A stupid minor attempt at humor just to LIGHTEN UP. It’s a party. Mild jokes are expected. From a sociological stand point, these social functions are an attempt to break through corporate structure and establish human socialization, of which, mild joking is just the start. Dancing and lamp shades come much later.

Where is the offensive part? I do not see it.

Crude jokes are the best jokes. I don't want to live in a world where we are forced to lose our sense of humor because someone might be offended.

It's not like the guy said "yea, the other one is spiked with ketamine, don't get raped! haha!"

She opened the door for the joke. He had a reasonable assumption that she was making a joke about such things and responded in kind. That actually sets a dangerous precedent of women ambiguously goading men into what they think is a joke then destroying their livelihood. I guess women in the workplace is turning out to be a shitty idea as a whole.

I hope it's not a law firm, that's a terrible idea which creates a liability for the business. Good luck dealing with an EEOC complaint should one occur.
