With no LSU players selected on offense...

To the 1st or 2nd team All SEC teams, it’s not surprising that the offensive woes continued in 2018.
I’m not sure that any Tiger even makes a 3rd team on offense. This is more proof that LSU has wiffed on several recruiting cycles on offense.
Stark contrast to the defense with three Tigers on the first team.
How can the coaching staff be so good at player selection and development on one side of the ball and so bad on the other???
If you are from another country with no interest in college football much less LSU, and did a case study on the Tigers, I think you would clearly see that a massive overhaul of the offensive coaching staff is required. If Coach O can’t do this, he won’t be in his dream job past 2019.

Wiff on recruiting or the offensive scheme that was not conducive to player production?

It's just as much a talent issue as is it scheme. When we had the disaster Malleveto calling the Defense we still had guys like Nevis, Sheppard, and Peterson that were all SEC on Defense. You could see the NFL talent shine even on that bad defense. Name the bonafide NFL players on our offense this year??? Moreau? Jefferson?

Marshall and chase will be playing on sundays. I think Jefferson will too

No one can argue the offense needs serious improvement, but you have to factor in Guice, Clapp and Weathersby leaving early. Virtually all of LSU’s starters were recruited by everyone.

Coach O forced a friend who was not interested in being a OC into taking the OC position. That's where the problems began. Time to move on.

UK’s offense is bad, really bad. They placed offensive players on the teams.

“UK’s offense is bad, really bad. They placed offensive players on the teams.
Arkansas’s offense us bad, really bad. They placed offensive players on the teams.”
This is the best evidence of LSU having a talent problem more than a scheme problem. Not saying the scheme can’t improve, however if you put the 2013 or 2007 offense in this scheme, they still shine.
Players win games not schemes!!!!!!

You look so dumb considering the bowl team we playing hasn’t lost a game in 2 years. They have probably 1 nfl prospect

I have had many discussion about this all season but everyone still wants to point the finger at coaching and x’s & o’s. This draft cycle the only person eligible to be drafted that has a chance Is Cole Tracy. If that doesn’t open your eyes to how depleted talent wise this offense was this season nothing will.

This. I’ve never heard of a head coach having to sell a coordinator job to someone. Especially a tight ends coach.

This can be greatly influenced by production.

Ever thought that it's hard to recruit talented offensive players with a scheme from 20-30 years ago?

You may not have liked it, but we just had a major overhaul after last season.
New OC, QB coach, new OL coach were added. It was a big change.
Scoring numbers went up slightly as did passing stats even though we lost our QB and our top WRs. We fell way off in rushing numbers, but we lost Guice and Williams.
We need to load up on o

I would upvote this a million times if I could.
Take Miles for example, Scheme was shite (that is an understatement) and we did ok, but the talent was there.

Wrong. Many teams have less talent on offense, but their schemes make them better offensively. LSU has had a ton of offensive talent for many years, yet the scheme has stopped them from success.

You're comparing LSU to Arkansas? LSU won a lot of games this year and lost one in which they scored 72. They could have easily finished 11-1 had calls gone their way. I think it has to do more with scheme and player development. Like a previous poster stated, LSU is recruiting the same players as other major programs.
Additionally, when was the last time LSU didn't have players drafted from the offense, I know 3 or 4 were drafted last year.

When you dial up the same 4 plays, every single game, the defense knows how to limit your talented players ability.
It's a scheme issue, and ALWAYS has been.

But that's kind of the point...an actual OC with an actual scheme relies less on the talent of individual players. Mullen, Freeze, Briles, all of these offensive minded coaches are able to SCHEME around a lack of talent. And just imagine what would happen if they had all the talent in the world.

Absolutely, all three of them will. But Jefferson will be a journeyman NFL player, and the other two are too young to have contributed at that level.
If you look at LSU offensive talent the last 10 years, we've had great talent at WR and RB, but very average at offensive line, and below average at QB. QB is flukey because it's one guy - that can change in an instant, and I believe it has with Burrow. Offensive line is what really needs to be fixed. It will take a very determined effort, because we don't get a lot of home grown talent there. I think Orgeron is well underway on this effort. The talent is mostly on the team or committed already. It just needs to be matured.
The lack of experienced talent at RB and WR this year was an anamoly.
