I dont Think this season is better than 2012 or 2013.
Maybe everyone else isn’t as good.

Look at losses

Average? 10-3
Current # of losses? 3
So if we were declining than what have we been doing since?

We were declining right?
I got no doubt you'd count a W if your herO's rentawin was cancelled.

Probably left more talent though. Right?
More talent than Georgia? Debatable. But in general, Les recruited heavy on DB's and RB's. RB was a bit dry when he left. We were loaded with DB's, I'll give him that.
But Les left a lot to be desired on the O-lines, and D-lines for that matter.
quote:
I'm not saying blame, but he has more experience with the team and more influence with the team than a typical coach in his second year. I'm also considering his retainment of a good chunk of that staff.
A typical new hire coach will probably release more than 70% of a staff, including the two most important positions. O kept over 60%, including one of Coordinator roles.
To me, that makes the "let it play out timeline" different from a typical new hire head coach. He didn't make nearly as many changes.
I'll give you that.
But I'm just saying, his first partial year, he was simply just cleaning up the year. They were 2-2 and with Les, heading down a disaster of a year. He patched that up pretty well I'd say. But I don't know how much he really accomplished that year knowing that he was only an interim and hadn't been named head coach.
Look, I actually think we agree on more than we disagree.
Would you agree that comparing Coach O, 2.5 year in to his tenure, with Les Miles entire LSU career, is fair? Just because 10-3 and top 10 this year is considered acceptable for a 2.5 year coach, doesn't mean it will be acceptable in his 4th year. Agree?
ETA:
And I didn't even bring into the discussion of what Les has done regarding QB recruitment since he started at LSU. To shite the bed every single year, then expect another coach to come in and provide a decent starting QB is tough in 2 years.

idk why some of you say the bar is lowered and that the same standards don't apply.
From somewhere around 2002 until 2015, 9 and 10 win seasons were consider so-so. Some even called those kind of years failures. Since 2016, 8 wins have been considered decent years, 9 wins have been very good years and plenty of people are calling 10 wins, which we haven't seen yet, great years. If you haven't seen these kind of posts, you're not looking at what you're reading.

the HC hasn't shite the bed
2016 Florida, 2017 Mississippi State, 2017 Troy, bowl game against Notre Dame, 2018 Florida and A&M. He shite the bed in all of those games.

until he has 3-4 years he will not be fired.
That's the scary part about all of this. 3 or 4 more years of o might have us so far down the shitter, it will take years to catch up with some of the other SEC teams.

Would you rather be 0-1 vs. Smart with trips to the Championship Game and SEC Champ twice? or 1-0 with literally nothing else to show for it?
if we were in the east and georgia in the west we would probably have 2 sec east titles is my point...smart is 3-4 vs the west

As long as Orgeron continues to recruit, this is just a stop-gap at worst.
As long as O gets great assistants, this ship sails smoothly. My fear is that he's getting them Rozy Finch Boyz paid, rather than getting great assistants.
Orgeron may end up failing while setting the next coach up for future success. Of course, if this idiot just hired a decent OC, he might have a shot at winning a NC and sticking around for a while...

19/25 teams in the final BCS poll in 2012 had 2 or less losses. 11/25 have 2 losses this year and we still have bowl games to play.
3 losses will take you farther in some years than others.
Regardless a 10-3 season really isn’t a huge
Improvement from a 10-3 season.
This team wasn’t taking this team wasn’t shitty it was a 10-3 most years before O took it over.
So year 2 why the frick can’t we expect more than 10-3?

When did losing on the road in the SEC make a coach terrible?
Pick any road loss Les Miles had in his 11 plus years at LSU. There were tons of people calling the man a terrible coach. Perhaps yourself included.
Even in this thread, being out of the program for over 2 1/2 years, you're calling him names.
Now all of a sudden, road losses by an LSU head coach are acceptable.

aren't rankings a better indicator of how good a season is than wins and losses? I never hear people say "we finished with 2 losses in '02"...it's always we finished top ten or whatever

I don't think we should've lost at florida or A&M...but I don't think it's a disgrace or something to fire a coach over. We were in both games and his teams have played well on the road outside of the UF game. Outside of Bama every sec team loses road games

not that I'm defending Alleva here, but those 2015 losses were all back to back and progressively got worse
Alleva was utterly spineless for not firing Miles after A&M
He was spineless letting our coach dangle in the wind with 3 fricking games left and not a damn word from the AD when it was leaked he was going to be fired. Spineless might be too kind. He sabotaged the program.

Les would still be our coach with a shite load more seccg appearances. frick, if Saban never goes to bama, Les has at least 3 titles. I like this game.

Almost everything you said was BS
1. We recruited DBs heavy because you play up to 6 at a time and need depth there.
2. We recruited 4-5 OL almost every year and O kept Les’ OL coach so clearly he didn’t have an issue with OL recruiting.
3. O inherited Guice, Williams, And Brosette. He failed to land a game changing TB the last 2 years. That’s on him.
4.our QB recruiting can’t be judged till we at some point figure out how the frick to run an offense.
O was the DL or HC for 3/4 DL classes. I’m not counting 2015 because he came in late.
He recruited every DL on the teamz
