Tough decision regarding my dog

Yesterday I got back from the camp and was about to move my truck and unload my gear. Before I got in my truck, I made sure the kids were not around and I pulled out of the driveway. I immediately heard my dog start screaming. She now cannot walk.
I took her to the vet this morning and she has a broken pelvis and her left back leg is broken. No internal injuries which would have made this decision a lot easier. Shes only about 6mths old but just helpless.
1 part of me wants to see of she will heal up over the next 8 weeks because shes awesome around my small children. On the otherhand, she is in some serious pain and I think it would be more humane to take her out of her misery. What do I do? Ive been giving her pain meds and muscle relaxers since it happened.
She just lays in one position and is helpless and makes me feel like shite for not seeing her when I moved my truck. The vet quoted me and estimate of $2500+ for surgery. This was a 6wk old pup i found stranded on the road. I just cant see myself dropping that kind of money and then they tell me they are not sure if the dog will regain strength after the surgery anyways

I cant say much because I spent more than this just to find out what was wrong with my boxer and ultimately put her down.
Im far from a baller, I dont know you're situation, if you can afford it go for it. Im sure she will live a long life.
If you cant, I would explain the situation and take everyone including any other dogs to the vet and have her put down.
We did not take everyone including our other dog. Its been 6 months and the 4 year old still asks randomly when she's coming home. My other dog seems over it now, but it took a few months and I read that they should be there so they know.

That sucks. I would have her put down if it were me.

I'd like to know a little more info about the surgery and long term prognosis, but I'd have a hard time not spending that money. I've spent much more on surgeries for my dog and don't regret it in the least.

It's your choice man....the dog or the money. I'd sell my house to save my dog, but I don't have other mouths to feed besides us two

Don’t take the easy road and kill your dog. You made the mistake, pay up like a man & get her the medical attention she deserves.
Edit: downvote all you want. Deep down you know that is the right thing to do. Otherwise, you could have killed her already.

In the situation you described, I'd put her down.

I never will understand why people get a dog that can’t afford it. Take this crap to Facebook if you’re looking for some sympathy.

Dog insurance is worth it just so I never have to be faced with this

But I’d pay it. Especially because I inflicted the injury.

if you go out and adopt another one the karma is offset...

I agree. I’m simply saying, don’t get a dog if you aren’t in a situation to be able to afford to keep it alive if an emergency arises. Same rules apply with people having kids they can’t provide for.

Id do what was needed for the dog, it was kind of your mess-up anyway. Not bashing, just saying.
My dog got into some trash recently and we spent a good amount to keep him around but then there were some complication and it cost me a shite pile of money.
But I like my dogs more than I like most people, so I ponied up the cash. It was also kind of our fault, we were testing him on staying out of his kennel during the day and some doors got left open.

Sorry to hear about this. If you do put the dog down make sure you go in the room with the pup I've heard that saddest part of a vets job is putting dogs down because most of the time owners decline to be in the room and when it's happening the dog begins to search wildly for their owner for comfort

How long have you had the dog? You said you found it at 6 mos and just wondering how old it is/long you've had it.

LSU Vet office do it any cheaper?

She was about 6-8wks old when I got her. She was part of 3 puppies found on the side of the road. So roughly 4mths

if you are asking what I would do, i'd pay and get the dog the medical attention she needs. i have no idea what you would do...
this is a personal decision, what others would do should be irrelevant
