No, let the last year of his contract play out, if he goes 9-3 again next year, give him one more year. 9-3 shouldn't be celebrated, sounds pretty meh to me
Letting a coach play out his contract is idiotic

His contract should have incentives based on offensive production in conference games.

I feel the same, but think with how the season has gone there is a sense of being on the upswing when considering the recruiting.
My concern remains the same. The offense was terrible under Miles at the end. Two and a half years into the O era, the offense is still terrible statistically, but it is somehow worthy of an extension? I like consistency and this isn’t consistent.

O does not deserve an extension. We are 9-3 and not 11-1, primarily because of poor coaching decisions. Example: A&M comes up short on fourth down; O is standing right there and does not even call time out or ask for a review. Jimbo asked for 2 reviews and was given them without it ever costing him a timeout even though on the first one he lost the challenge. 4th and 6 inches last year against ND and we kick a field goal and lose. Anyone LSU would hire could beat 7 or 8 teams on our schedule but when you get down to teams who talent level is as good or almost as good as ours it comes down to coaching and too often in those games we come up short.

A&M made the first down by 2 yards. The yellow line on TV was wrong. This has been discussed ad nauseum

You have to keep a minimum of 4 years on a HC’s contract for recruiting purposes. But hopefully they made the buyout one sack of crawfish when doing the new contract.

I do not support an extension unless the buy out is substantially reduced. Substantially.

They need to have police standing by with handcuffs for Alleva if he adds one cent to Orgeron's buyout.

That’s BS. If he’s winning then everyone knows he can stay as long as he wants. The only people who worry about that are mediocre or terrible coaches.
You don't really understand how recruiting works. There needs to at least be the illusion of long-term security. Orgeron has three years left, but I believe in December his buyout is only around $3.5 million. That resets to $5 million in January. That's an extremely low number when compared to the coaches he's recruiting against.
They'll probably do something where they add a couple of years and bump the buyout. He's definitely going to be here through next season, so I'm figuring they bump the buyout to around $10 million and it reduces throughout the year by the amount he's been paid, so by the end of next season it's down to around $6 million.
Basically, they're just going to be guaranteeing another year of his salary.
As much as we'd like to be able to not guarantee anything and break an underperforming coach off without financial repercussions, that's simply not possible without seriously jeopardizing the lifeblood of the program, recruiting.

Ensminger likely getting one too...

This is ducking dumb.
We can’t convince kids O is Jimbo Fisher or Saban by paying him more.

It’s probably not a stupid call as long as they don’t throw buyout money at him
LSU needs to keep an out in the contract

All one has to do is look at the CFP rankings to see this. LSU is only #10 - falling apart at the seams.
And whatever you do don't look at the recruiting rankings for 2019 and 2020. shite team is only ranked #4 for both years.
I'll be back I have to go cry now.
Cry from laughing so much at some of the idiots on this message board.
You are one of the frauds who I'm referencing. Give a frick about nothing but yourself.
We all know the talking points. You have spouted them for two years now.
What you fail to acknowledge is that many of us are real people in the real world and know a shyster when we see one.
9-3 is 9-3. No one is winning championships going 9-3 and this current staff clearly can't do better than that.
Raped by Saban. Out-coached by Mullin and already pushed to the side by Fisher.
Oh yeah, the future looks great. Hope you're getting your extension as well.

They win the bowl and get to 10 wins give him the extension! Not before. What he has done so far got Les Fired!

Based on what? Your idiocy? Many morons thought he couldn't do better than what he did at Ole Miss? How is that turning out?

Raped by Saban.
And Saban is in his 2nd year?

You really should try to watch LSU football games if you think that happened.

Did I mention next year's recruiting class? The class after next year? How about all the returning players on offense - did I mention them?
Cry about it all you want man. Be miserable, REAL MISERABLE. I mean, according to you, there is no way it will get better. Might as well be totally miserable over your unfounded predictions.

You're not trying to convince kids Orgeron is as good as Saban by paying him more. You're making it clear that the coach has the support of the administration and that the coach isn't going to be gone after the kid's freshman year.
Believe it or not, some kids like Orgeron more than Saban and Fisher.
You're delusional if you think we're ever getting rid of person without paying him a buyout.
Posted on 11/29/18 at 6:06 pm to whitefoot
Sure but let’s not frick ourselves in year 2 of a 5 year contract to show recruits who won’t aign before year 3 of the contract is over that he’ll be here 3 years.
Posted on 11/29/18 at 6:08 pm to bsmi154
Just imagine extending O and giving him a raise.....you know against the whole "save money on the head coach" plan, then....
Aranda bolting after the bowl game.
That lovely scenario is setting up.....
