What was your moment where you were convinced there isn't a god?

Not trying to be a dick to the fine reverend, just genuinely curious when the non-believers began to become wholly convinced that we just don't know if there's a God (agnosticism) or that there is clearly no God?
I was raised Methodist. My family wasn't really religious but I always believed they were Christian. I was taken to church every week by my Grandma. My Grandma was my favorite person in the world so I was totally cool going to church with her. But I never felt any connection to Jesus, God, the Church, the Bible...none of it ever seemed genuine.
When I was 14 or 15 I had to get confirmed, which I did. Part of becoming confirmed in the Methodist church was an extensive study of the Bible. Our 'class' of confirmees would have to meet with our minister (super cool guy) and he would discuss the history of the Methodist church, quiz us on the Bible, and just general philosophies of the church.
I ended up confirmed but it was during this time I began telling myself that this was all complete bullshite. The more I learned, the more ridiculous I found it all to be.
This post isn't for the Christians, obviously. Just not a topic which is talked about much in public so curious how the non-believers on the board came to their conclusions.

When I learned about the Holocaust as a kid as well as not believing in any of the tall tales like Jonah and the whale and Noah's Ark, Jesus walking on water, turning water into wine, etc. All of that struck me as illogical as a child but didnt really manifest into me flat out challenging it and not believing it until around late middle school. Then learning about how corrupt the church of any kind is (anything with power really) which is compounded by all the rape that goes and is constantly covered up, around high school I became very rebellious about it. I'd say Im probabaly agnostic now because I really just don't give a frick about any of it.

I have never been convinced that there wasn’t a God but I’m starting to believe there is a higher power or at least someone who is the devil.

Pretty much the exact same as you except I didn't get confirmed. Raised methodist and it just never clicked for me. My life was going to be the exact same whether I went to church on sunday or not.

Grew up catholic. I still believe in God, pray every night etc, but just really don’t see eye to eye with a lot of their teachings. If they wanted to fix their religion, they would let married men hold congregations. Otherwise they will continue having rape scandals when you ask a man to “marry the church”.
ETA: Also disagree with confession, why can’t you just apologize to God himself instead of telling a priest you’ve been whacking off

I'm more likely to believe we live in a simulation than I am to believe in any sort of deity.
In a world seemingly full of chaos/chance/disorder, we're surrounded by incredible consistencies explained by math, even down to sub-particle/quantum granularity. Makes you think.

Once I realized that it sounds like a bunch of made up kids tales for animated books to share in sunday school and used logic and started doubting it all

In 9th grade history class we studied the history of religion. Seeing how the different religions started and propogated was a real eye opener. Everything about religion is entirely human.

I think it’s easier to believe someone or something higher is at work than to believe that it’s all math and things just happen.

Because apostolic succession calls for it and you’re not perfectly contrite when you simply think in your head “man I shouldn’t have done that.”
