Convinced the Saints are going to have to win out to get the #1 seed.
Curb stomp the cowgirls, get healed up, and get ready for the stretch run.

1. New Orleans Saints (10-1)
Projected wins: 13.6 | Week 12 rank: 1
Toughest game left: Week 15 at Carolina. This kicks off a difficult two-game stretch for the Saints. First they have to play at their division rivals on Monday Night Football in potentially cold weather. Then they have to turn around on a short week and host the Pittsburgh Steelers in Week 16. The Panthers (6-5) have fallen on hard times lately, but that could make them all the more desperate to salvage their playoff hopes when the Saints come to town. -- Mike Triplett

2. Los Angeles Rams (10-1)
Projected wins: 13.9 | Week 12 rank: 2
Toughest game left: Week 14 at Chicago. The Rams are 10-1, and after a big win over the Chiefs, it seems improbable that they'll drop a game the rest of the way. However, the Bears -- who have won five straight -- will present a challenge. Their defense ranks fourth in yards allowed per game with 316 and is third in points allowed with an average of 19.2. The Rams proved that they could win in cold weather when they defeated the Broncos in October. However, that might not compare to Soldier Field in December in a prime-time game. -- Lindsey Thiry

None of this matters. Only February.

This makes me very nervous

Just want the Bears to beat the Rams and the Saints to win out through Pittsburgh to grab the 1 seed. Rest everyone week 17, then destroy everyone in the playoffs.

I’m absolutely all for this. But what if Carolina needs to win to get in? Do we just let them walk into the playoffs?

And are we willing to forego a five game sweep?

Yep, but I am not sure we will get there. I am still thinking 2nd seed.

Really annoying. Seems like the Saints' best teams always have to scratch and claw to a top 2 seed. 2009 took a late Minnesota loss (remember Saints finished 13-3 due to resting the last game). 2011 was arguably the best Saints team ever but ended the 3 seed due to a 15-1 Green Bay and 49er team with a better conference record. It took 11 wins just to get a wildcard birth in 2013. Would be a travesty for the Coliseum to host the NFCCG.

I hate it when they take off that last game. It's like a preseason game, and those are crappy.

I agree, but I wouldn't mind seeing Teddy get some real game time as well. Won't have to worry about burning his redshirt.

Yes we will have to win out to get the 1 seed. But I don’t think the team even thinks about that. They know what’s at stake and know they have to keep winning. They’re locked in and know that each game the rest of the way is the biggest game of th year.
Will be nice to have that mini bye coming off this game headed into the Bucs. Gives Marshall/Ginn/Armstead some valuable time to rest, catch up or heal up before the final stretch
ETA: The Rams don’t have a cakewalk schedule. They still have games at the Bears, at Detroit and a home game vs a desperate Eagles team. I’m still holding out hope they’ll have a bad week and drop one of those

Do we just let them walk into the playoffs?

I'm torn between wanting them to win out & hoping if there's a loss its now, obviously.
Sometimes teams just have a bad game for whatever reason ..turnovers, injuries or just outplayed. It happens. I do want them to crush Carolina twice, knock the smirk off "that football's a rattlesnake jump back" Fig Newton's face.
If we lose, i'd rather it be against the Steelers, it won't hurt nfc standings.

Short weeks favor the home team even more, but let's not act like one day is the same as 3 for Thursday games.

Or we sit our starters and embarrass the frick out of them by still winning, even though they have a spot on the line.

We rested our starters in week 17 against Carolina the year we won the superbowl...just sayin

We also lost to TB and Dal, and Dal ended our streak.
Not exactly the same, but a possible silver lining if things go sideways this game.

So our next 3 games all on the road are against the 3 teams that ruined our perfect record and beat us back to back to back in 2009 to end the year?
