No good reason for some crazy extension right now.
It's about protecting O, not for the betterment of the program. Take this past season, would Miles get extension and raise? Thought he was fired for 9 wins, 3/4 in west, bottom dwelling offense? Now a coach is praised and rewarded. Talk about lowering standards and moving goal post.

A top 5 recruiting class
Here we go again with claiming something that didn't happen. We were told to be happy because LSU was 10-2, before they actually finished 10-2. Guess what happened? They didn't. The recruiting class ranking today does not mean jack shite, until those recruits are locked in during the two signing days.

progression in wins and losses.
What is this progression that you speak of? 9-3 is a progression from what exactly?

His only failure IMO is his handling of the offense.
That is one HUGE failure, don't you think?

Let's wait until signing day. Picking up Emery was huge. Hopefully we can hold onto the bulk of the 2019 class. Winning a NY6 bowl game would a great way to start the new year.

I’ve been on the “let’s give him a chance” bandwagon until now. Next year we are loaded. If he can’t win more than 9 next year he needs to go.

My opinion is he's doing fine 2 years in. I don't see the same stubbornness to adapt on offense as I saw in Miles, and my opinion is we did not underachieve this year. If we win that A&M game (which I felt like we did 4 or 5 times) then that's an overachievement with this roster.
Amazing what the difference in losing vs winning that game does to the perception of a season.
I feel like he's holding us steady. I think people understate where we were roster-wise when Miles left. There were huge gaps and misses in recruiting.
2 years in I am not disappointed. However, we will need to make some huge splashes in recruiting very soon to be up there with A&M, Bama and Georgia. We simply HAVE to keep up with them.
I think the offense will be really good next year with some ELITE talent in the backfield and a non-patchwork O-line. I look for the offensive playcalling to expand because of that.
2 years in I give O a B+.

How could he not after last year.

it was simply a sideways move
the very fact that he thinks ensminger is the best OC in the country says it all, the man is either stupid or willingly fooling himself so he can keep his friend as OC

Two years in where does Orgeron stand?
Exactly where he stood when he was hired, for the good and the bad.
He's shown that he probably won't quickly tank the program. He's also shown that he'll never compete for championships. He doesn't have the drive, the talent, or the vision.
He would have a CHANCE at getting lucky once or twice and competing, but his coaching record against Fisher/Saban/Mullen shows that he'll never win a title game. He also has a very good chance at being unlucky and having an awful season.
I do believe that his tenure is 100% on how long Aranda stays, and with how this season went, that's already starting to look shakey.

Look for thre loss seasons for the next 2-5 years. Orgeron and his staff will be getting left behind.

What is really good?
Think some of you are going to be disappointed if SE is still the OC. He's done a few wrinkles, but this is miles' offense run out of spread set.
If you disagree, tell me what is different this year from 2016, when SE took over and ran miles' offense out of a spread set?

Hopefully in the unemployment line with Steve Ensminger and two years worth of dust sitting on top of them

Someone else said it first, but it makes sense. LSU is in a holding pattern with Orgeron until Saban retires. It’s the wrong approach, but that’s where it would seem we are.

BTW, I'm not an O apologist. But saying that everything he's done is a failure is wrong IMO. It makes you look like you have bias. But whatever. I think he's doing good in recruiting.
The bigger question is, why did we get rid of Miles? We have the same thing. I don't understand it. Maybe because Alleva didn't like him? Maybe because we thought Jimbo was in the bag? I don't know anymore, but it scares me to think the best we could do was O.

2017. 6-2 sec

Never understood why people isolate the records to one or the other. Going 6-2 in the SEC doesn't excuse the Troy loss, just like a big OOC win doesn't excuse a conference loss. The totality and program direction are what matters.
That direction is flatlined at best right now.

Miles had two 5 loss seasons in 11 years. Give o a little time and I think we might start seeing some of those 5 loss (or more) seasons more frequently.

The Godfather of DL recruiting has 1 DL commit

And WHO was the big recruiter on staff in 2015 and 2016? hmmmmm? Can not pin this all on Coach Miles, a certain DL coach was heavily involved in recruiting and hired because of his supposed prowess in that aspect of coaching college football.
Every time he says we need better players here or there, he indicts himself, which I guess is one way to slice it. However it always seems like in saying this he throws his players "under the bus" but he is also saying I did not do a good job. Of course he says it that way to try to absolve himself for his faults.

On a practice field in Lake Charles, Louisiana as coach of McNeese.
